>>>RIT Tigers - 2023-2024 Season<<<

That's the exact article that was in the back of my head when I made my post. :-)

I still think he goes pro regardless of his Portal moves.

If he was going pro he already would have, no? Look at teammate Gonsalves who was in an ECHL lineup just a few days after the NCAA regionals.

To me it looks like he was hoping to go pro, didn't get any bites, and now wants out of RIT so he can go somewhere higher profile to increase his chances of a good pro deal.

Personally I don't think he'll ever be anything more than an ECHL guy but I suspect he thinks he deserves better

Scarfone in the portal as of this morning

I guess this will probably continue to be the norm now so long as we stay in Atlantic Hockey. Guys come here and then dip into the portal as soon as they prove their worth.

We may be starting to outgrow Atlantic Hockey. Another couple of years with scholarships attracting some better players and we will probably see this happening on a yearly basis. The question is where do we go? ECAC would be a nice fit but they have no space.

I think you're going to be correct on all points.

I agree. But like you said, the ECAC has no spots. And quite frankly, won't for any foreseeable reason, because RIT would jump in a second if given a chance.

RIT would be a nice fit for ecac. You would need a travel partner. Atlantic hockey is a decent conference but time to play with the big boys for you guys.

If the only problem was travel partners, there are creative solutions that could be had (such as one team (Princeton?) traveling alone, for example)

The real problem is there's no room to go to 14 (or 13) teams and still maintain the balanced schedule that the ECAC has now. The Ivies already play less non-conference games than anyone else, even adding one new team (going to 24 conference games) would drop them down to 4 non-conference games each. Adding RIT AND a travel partner (whoever it would be, and whether it necessitated a shake up in who travels with who or not) is just a complete non-starter.

Aiden Hansen-Bukata to Ohio State, Cody Laskosky in the portal.

Lot of question marks for next year all of a sudden behind what should be a very good top line (but even there they'll have to get used to being the target of opposition's game plans). Top pair gone defensively and arguably their #3 (Nicholson) and two freshmen goalies + the kid from Lindenwood with somewhat....underwhelming stats.

Looks like a bigger freshmen class than normal (6 forwards, 3 D, 2 goalies) - let's hope there's some difference makers there.

EDIT: Looks like a kid coming in from Northern Michigan as well: Kevin Marx Noren put up 4-13-17 in 30 games as a freshman last year.

RIT picks up Nick Cafarelli out of the transfer portal - 28 games with UNH last year, 6g, 5a. Scored against us in their 4-3 win last November. Also 41 PIM (including a major and a separate misconduct)
