Re: RIT @ RPI Friday 10/22/10

Good test tonight-should tell us alot about how this team is starting the season. We will find out whether our defense is as good as it has shown in the first few games (I think it is). Will need to get going on offense to stay in this one. I hope we can stay out of penalty trouble but i fear this one will be another parade to the box for both sides. Special teams may decide another one. Coach SA has quite a few decisions to make for this one-does he give Merriam a game today or tomorrow? Who does he skate on the 3rd and 4th lines? Do you play the freshmen defensemen together? Very interesting to see how he decides. Let's Go Red!!!!

Re: RIT @ RPI Friday 10/22/10

Unfortunately I will not be here to run up my post cou- er share my thoughts on the game. I will be at the game instead. Hopefully we score as many goals as we did last time. :D

Re: RIT @ RPI Friday 10/22/10

I will be here tonight, but I find that watching the game slows down my posts, I will probably keep them to between periods.
I was at the shoot out that was the last RIT game, I am not sure that it could have been called an NCAA contest. It was more like what my friends and I used to play in the Bronx oh so many years ago. :)

LETS GO RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: RIT @ RPI Friday 10/22/10

From what I've heard, RIT last year performed much better at home than they did on the road.

I know that RIT's band is planning to be at tonight's game, as are a number of their fans.

Hope RPI's student body shows up in sufficient force to remind the Tigers, in no uncertain terms, that they are not the home team tonight.

IIRC, they lost every OOC game -- until the NCAA tourney.

All of this pales to the jinx to RPI of my thread-starting record. :D

Re: RIT @ RPI Friday 10/22/10

When does a lineup get posted?

RPI has seemed quite random about it over the last few years. More often than not, not long before gametime. It is posted on the official website, and usually someone posts it here.

I expect that no one will predict who will be in goal this weekend. :D

Which is why I did not start it-I was hoping Jenny might but the thread got started early and by the time we were up and around it was too late. Perhpas tomorrow.

yeah, we started out 0-5-0 last year (0-3-0 OOC) and 1-4-1 (1-3 OOC) in 2008/09. i don't have any real reason for our slow starts, but it has happened for a few years now.

and yes, we will have our band and probably a bunch of fans, but i haven't heard of any busses for this game so there won't be tons of us. and unlike our trips to canisius (where we are louder and possibly outnumber the home fans) you have a solid crowd and fans who i am sure will remind us that we are visitors. i am already bracing myself for an inevitable "safety school" chant.

ps @ waite21...dillsburg is a cool town, i will probably be there for the pickle drop this year

Just curious, does RIT use Swarthout Coaches when you travel to away games?

Re: RIT @ RPI Friday 10/22/10

Not many surprises-Would have liked to see Koudys in there but that is OK. First 2 lines look pretty set for now. Now let's just put it all together on the ice and produce some offense.

I suspect that SA is bringing Koudys along slowly. I think that we will see him play regularly by the new year.

RIT generally plays an ambitious OOC, so that is part of the reason. None of the teams RIT has played could be considered "slouches". Also, I believe Coach uses these games to try some differant line combinations. It's pretty much a given that the road to the NCAAs for an AHA team is the AHA tournament, so try to see what you have in the non-conference games.
