RIT 2026-2027

Old TIGER here.! Can't wait to see what the second season from our new coach will bring. The schedule is the hardest that I can remember.
 
Don't know how good the freshman class is compared to last year's group, even though I like Romero and Wang, but the transfer class is one of the best in a while. Sacred Heart is probably the best team in the AHA but as long as they don't fall off at the end of the season again they can easily get 1 or 2 in the league
 
The AHA is very competitive from top to bottom. I would pick Bentley, Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, and Niagara. Notice I did pick the order of finish. However, being one of the founders of RIT hockey, I have my fingers crossed that Coach Thomas will put a very good team on the ice. The transfers surprised me. It is awful what is going on at ASU with the Clarkson transfer defenseman. How do you think Clarkson will do this season?
 
The transfers definitely surprised me, especially Mathew Wilde going back and getting Mathew Mania. Clarkson was very good last year, just young. I see us around 20 wins and as a top four ECAC team, or at worst the 5th seed. They kept their talent and added good pieces to replace what they lost. These next two years are huge with the young core, and with J.F. coaching, they can beat anyone and are my pick to win the ECAC tourney if you say it bias or not. It sucks what’s happening to Mathew. I have family and know people who went to RIT, so that’s who I follow in the Atlantic.
 
You make it sound like Clarkson and RIT are in phase for producing wins this year. Young teams, new coaches, and a surprising 2025-26 season. Can't wait for the season to start. Who do you expect to be strong in the ECAC ?

Qpac, Dartmouth, Cornell, and my wildcard would be Harvard. First three make the NCAA tournament. Pains me to say it but clarkson will be good and could easily slide into the 4 spot. RPI is on the rise with Eric lang. Next year I have them in the top 4 with another strong recruiting class. RIT and Army are my teams I like in Atlantic hockey. I wouldn’t mind seeing RIT make the jump to the ECAC.

Exactly who I have in the top 3: I have RPI in a position like Clarkson last year, very up-and-down seasons. Harvard's going to be interesting with the new coaching style but I wouldn't mind seeing LIU and Stonehill jump to the Atlantic.

I agree with you. Lang uses the analogy of crawl, walk, run. I think RPI is approaching the walk part and another year or two we should be really good. Which is good for the Clarkson/RPI rivalry. Harvard has tons of talent like always but I think Rassey is going to really get them going this year. LIU and Stonehill would be the most logical additions. I’m hoping RIT eventually jumps to ECAC but that would mean we either lose qpac to hockey east or we have to add two teams with the travel partner system ECAC uses. I don’t want canisius or Niagara they suck but maybe RIT and Miami? lol
 
RPI has a coach that made AIC a power and I think he will do the same at RPI. I would like to see Delaware, LIU, Huntsville and Lindenwood Join AHA. 14 schools that could produce a very competitive league, What does the top 4 teams in the ECAC look like?

Lang was the best hire RPI could've made, with his recruiting and what he did at AIC, RPI did the right thing and will be a very good team in 2 to 3 years. Quinnipiac is 1 until they aren't, Dartmouth is 2, they kept all they're talent; Cornell always good so 3, Once you get to 4 it's tough to pick between Harvard and Clarkson so its a toss up.
