Emily McNamara, Middlebury '07, passed away shortly after noon today, September 11, 2026. Her death was announced by her husband Dave Campbell on the CaringBridge page that updated the public on Emily's progress.

As a player, McNamara was a 3 time NCAA and 2 time NESCAC champion with Middlebury. Upon graduation she immediately jumped into an assistant coaching role on Coach Mandigo's bench until 2011 when she spent a season coaching the U16 Mid-Fairfield Stars befire starting her tenure at NESCAC rival Hamilton in Fall 2012.

As the Head Coach of Hamilton, McNamara was a two time NESCAC Coach of the year, and was also the AHCA DIII National Coach of the Year in 2023. That same spring McNamara would shock the DIII community by returning to Middlebury as an assistant coach, with most assuming she was a Head Coach in Waiting.

That was seemingly coming to pass, as Coach Mandigo was retiring this spring with McNamara ready to assume the Head Coach role. Sadly, the car accident on March 20th would ruin those plans.

My condolences to Dave McNamara and the entire Middlebury and Hamilton hockey communities.
