RIP Charlie Crosby - CrosbyNU63

PrezdeJohnson09

Proud supporter of Osmirwich hockey
I'm sad to report "Cadet Crosby" passed away last night after a 15-year battle with luekemia.

A sad day for Norwich and the Division III hockey community. We lost a good one.

RIP my mentor, my teammate, my friend.

Charlie Crosby
1941 - 2016

Does that mean hawk is now off the hook?

Crap. One of the good guys.

Re: RIP Charlie Crosby - CrosbyNU63

:( We lost a good one, boys and girls. My thoughts are with his familie... both his own personal family, and the Norwich community that made up his professional family.

Re: RIP Charlie Crosby - CrosbyNU63

I have a suggestion to the board. To honor Charlie's memory, let us all have steak for dinner tonight.

RIP Charlie. May your journey to Paradise be short.

His legacy lives on in all the lives that he impacted. Speaking personally, he truly embodied what it means to be a Norwich Man. I can only hope that I live a life that makes our beloved alma mater as proud as Charlie did.

Let's leave the negativity for another day. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. And as Charlie would say, Norwich Forever! Cadets Forever!

Sad to hear this. We all knew that at some point the disease would take its toll. One of the truly good guys that I got to know in my time at Norwich. He was a friend, a golf partner from time to time, and truly represented Norwich as well as anyone could. A great loss. It is just too bad that he couldn't have lasted until the big 200th anniversary in 2019. He was Maroon and Gold inside and out..

RIP Charlie Crosby: never had the pleasure of meeting him but I felt like I got to know him on this board....

Charlie Crosby WAS Norwich ... a proud Cadet who never forgot his school and the Corps .... working with him was an experience ... he was a tough SOB at times ... but it was always about getting things right ... and in all my years in sportscasting I've never had a stronger supporter at the top. The past 15 years were not easy for Charlie ... he fought cancer with the same tenacity and determination he expected his Cadets to show on the ice ... and it took 15 years for the big "C" to take him down. At ease now Cadet Crosby ... RIP.

Re: RIP Charlie Crosby - CrosbyNU63

My condolences to the Norwich Cadet community on the loss of a proud cadet. Never had the opportunity to meet him, but his online personality was one that makes me wish I had the pleasure.

Just saw this on Facebook. My deepest condolences to everybody who knew him. I can tell he had a positive impact on many lives. RIP

Re: RIP Charlie Crosby - CrosbyNU63

May God Bless the whole Norwich U. You lost one of your most faithful fans. God will guide you on a new journey, Charlie.

Re: RIP Charlie Crosby - CrosbyNU63

Just saw this news on the Norwich website, what a terrible loss. I so appreciated Charlie's knowledge of the game and his passion for all things Norwich. In a way, he made me a better fan by his insights and example. However, the thing I will remember him most about was the donor drive held by Norwich to possibly provide him a bone marrow treatment for his Leukemia. While the drive was a success in adding great numbers of donors to the registry, there was no match for Charlie. He was very upbeat about the success of the drive and his hope that his need would save others. What a strong and selfless man he was during that time. We all would be wise to carry a little piece of Charlie in our hearts for ever!

I believe all he interacted with, including those on this forum have to carry a little piece of Charlie with them - he may have been "Maroon and Gold inside and out" but his character earned him my respect :)

RIP
