Good afternoon Lodge. They just opened a Chick-Fil-A in my neck of the woods. First time I've ever waited two hours for fast food (when you're the only one for 200 miles you'll get some crowds), but it was definitely a nice thing to have.

I apologize.. honestly.. didn’t even think about that when I posted.. :o
I posted a comment about curling that I thought was indistinct and had my bum chewed. I didn't think either. :o (I guess I don't know enough about curling to realize it would mean anything but the Swedish and Norge skips are still hot!) As far as what you posted- you would have to be living under a rock to avoid that. It is all over every form of media- my FB and insta I could have scrolled for an hour before I hit a post that didn't have that in it. Lesson learned. No celebrating or whining in here to be safe

To be fair. There are plenty of people who are careful about avoiding it. Last Olympics I managed to have the USA-Russia game go unspoiled until 11 pm on a Saturday.

My phone was blowing up when I got up- every notification thing I had was lit with it- the breaking news, FB, Insta, email. I somehow didn't realize it was on last night. This AM I found out half the world stayed up to watch.

I turned off all notifications. Didn’t visit the news sites. Stayed away from everything but the politics threads here. And I made it home without having the curling game spoiled.

It’s doable.

In the end, no real harm no foul. I just derive so much enjoyment from the excitement of not knowing. Take The Usual Suspects. After I saw it, the movie wasn’t as compelling. It’s why I own more of the bigger blockbuster epics than movies like TUS.

Ymmv. :)

So you've seen the curling match now?

Hell... I turned on the curling this morning, and within about five minutes of having it on, they showed the highlights from the overnight. No way I wasn’t finding out about the hockey game.

NBC’s broadcasts are produced by a bunch of ****ing clowns.

Stopped by my liquor store tonight, and they had the women's hockey game on. The employee (by choice and LOTS of effort) didn't know the outcome. It was during the 3rd round of the shootout. He basically shouted "DON'T TELL ME ANYTHING!" I didn't, and we watched the endgame (While I knew the result, I hadn't actually seen it).

Wow. Kudos to the US Women.

Morning, Lodge. Maggie is in the shop getting butt stuff done. Got dinged in a parking lot a few weeks back. :( Nothing major, just a paint chip, but I have to keep her pretty, you know? My legs will be getting a workout for the next couple of days walking to where I need to go.

I was in a fender bender about two months ago. You couldn't hardly see the damage unless you happened to look right at it. Cost to fix it - $5,600. Stupid 17 yo driver turned into me, but I got a ticket (he did too) for driving too long in the center turn lane. Going to court to fight it today. The burb where it happened is notorious for making their budget by ticketing drivers (whether they deserve it or not) that live out of their pos city. BTW, my pickup had under 2500 miles at the time.

$5600?!?!?! Jebus. Mine will be only $700, thankfully. Frankly, the scuff mark is easily visible, the paint chip only noticeable if you're looking for it.

Mornin’ all. Our hockey season came to a close last night. 5 years of high school hockey coaching in the books now. Man time flies.

Driving too long in the center turn lane?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 194: What to do now that winter has really started?

Driving too long in the center turn lane?

I'm thinking he's referring to the roads that have a "shared" center lane to turn left from. Sometimes those lanes are rather extended to cover multiple turning points. So he got into the turn lane, but didn't turn at the next available point, and drove to the one after that.
