Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

I start training to become a manager with Menards tomorrow. Pretty happy to only have a day and a half off without pay. Things were going to get a little tight if I had ended up with an entire week.

Back in '99, when I was offerred a job at the Hudson, WI, store, management trainees there started at $35K and store managers were making ~$85-$110K, depending upon store volumes. I have no idea how that compares to today, but thought you might like to know to get an idea of how their compensation has changed over the years.

At 4:15 tomorrow morning a limo wll be picking us up to start the journey to Superior, WI for my daughters wedding. We're flying to MSP and then driving to Superior... anything I need to know about the MN highways... specifically 35? I'll be traveling with 4 women (wife, other daughter, mother, mother-in-law)! This should be a fun trip... can I sniff glue on the plane?

In case anyone is interested, I'm going to an alcohol-free wedding in the state of Wisconsin! I didn't think that was legal, let alone possible. But my future son-in-laws parents are religious (dad's a minister) and they do not allow alcohol in their house. Since the wedding and reception are at their place, my daughter decided to honor their request to not have any.

Looking forward to seeing Lake Superior. Our hotel is right on the bay. We're not sure how much time we'll have for actual sight seeing. I'm thinking I'll have all day Monday to myself so maybe I can come up with something.

Bob - if you have Comcast, I highly recommend finding Knife Fight in the OnDemand section; it's on Esquire. It is my new favorite cooking competition show.

Mark - sounds like a flask - or several - may be necessary. As for heading up 35, Tobie's in Hinckley isn't quite the same as it used to be, but the baked goods are tasty.

So, there's an afterparty????????

Burger at the Anchor Bar is recommended. They're very tasty burgers. If you have all day Monday, you may want to drive up the North Shore (Highway 61, north of Duluth). If you get up north of Two Harbors there are state parks, waterfalls, Split Rock Lighthouse. Its all pretty scenic.

edit: also, if you can get a meal at Gordy's Hi-Hat in Cloquet, do it.

I checked and it is, indeed, against Wisconsin state law...tell your daughter to be careful...don't want to get arrested on your wedding day.

I do not have Comcast; dropped it in 2012 in favor of DirecTV. Haven't had a complaint since.

What bbdl said about Two Harbors/etc. I think Betty's Pies is still around, definitely recommend.

Very bold coyote trotting down the sidewalk of the neighbor this morning.

You don't like soccer, but have some national pride at least!

:D

Oh, its Soccer? Nevermind then. The US has a team? I would have figured we would suck enough to not have to go. Regardless, I am not going to care, even if the US is there. I don't care about the US playing basketball in the Olympics, so why would I care about the US soccer team?

What a morning, my wife had a big doctor's appointment and everything is good there...and I got offered a bribe at at work this morning. Prospective buyer attempted to palm me at least $100 to give him info on the site our client is trying to sell to them...great fun.
