If I disrespected a customer it would give them a bad impression of my company, I see no difference here. Its the institution's responsibility to employ people that aren't *******s. I guess I shouldn't have expected more from an institution that protects child rapists.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #173: (Insert Title)

The catholic preacher a-hole won't let my mom speak at thw funeral because she is not catholic, and argued with my aunt for 20 minutes about speakers and soloists. My aunt, and her ex-husband both wanted people to go up during the service to share memories of Derek, and they wanted one of Derek's friends to sing a solo. The preacher said that stuff had to be done before or after the service because he didnt want it to "interrupt his mass". He argued with a grieving mother and father for 30 minutes over it, the ****ing *****.

That wasn't what I was expecting. IMHO zealots of all religions have been the cause of much of the world's problems over the centuries.

I could see not having a cavalcade, in the end its a catholic mass but the rest just seems to be the priest being a ******.

---

The priest at my hometown church said a partial version of mass at the funeral home for my grandmother who was not catholic (I forget which protestant strain she belonged to)... the family (my mother and siblings) was raised catholic, my grandfather was catholic. Something I'm sure your guy would not do. IMO, I think readings have to be done by those who have been confirmed.

edit: my grandfather, father's side, was taken out of the church (not my parents church) to the national anthem, IIRC, as a WWII vet by an honor guard. I'd like to see the priest try to stop that.

edit #2: I would think the anthem would be a bit much, maybe america the beautiful... I'm not sure... still the same. He didn't see fighting as he only got in during 1945 and spent 1946 in China and we never talked about it but it still pulled at me.

Well that is a complete load of BS...there is a basic framework for special masses like funerals and weddings, but there has never been anything that says you can't do something special or deviate a little. There is definitely nothing even remotely outrageous (or, frankly, abnormal) about what your aunt is requesting.

Leave it to some asshat to make an already difficult situation so much harder/worse.

Row 55 now, a 7 row upgrade.:)

So, are you saying that the LA Kings are now you favorite team? :)

Good evening Lodge.

I have surgery scheduled this Friday. Woke up today with a sore throat and muscle soreness. Tomorrow I'm expecting the call from the hospital in cityslickerville to schedule the time. If I still feel like crap tomorrow I wonder if they will move forward with the surgery????????

Howdy Lodge. On board my flight home and there are several toddlers and one 8-month old. Big sigh.

Thanks for the positive thoughts last night. The athlete's family and home are safe. They are expecting more threats tonight.

bbdl - that's awful. It's not like someone is presenting a PowerPoint deck or a song and dance performance. Hopefully whoever does get to speak will thank the minister for making such a difficult time even more difficult.

So the key to sitting at a bar here in Hickory, NC to to tell out-of-towners how they are connected to Eric Church. Some ya'll would have loved it. :)

IMO, I think readings have to be done by those who have been confirmed.

IIRC from my grandparents funerals (bear in mind those were almost 17 years ago now), that is technically correct, but I suspect many a kinder priest has made exceptions to that "rule" without consulting the local bishop.

THe priest that married me gave a homily on how as a non-Catholic I would not stand before God with my husband.

Same guy allowed my Godmother to do a reading and she was a *heretic*!!!!1!!!!1111! Lutheran.

Time to ask for a guest priest to do the mass. I know they allow that.

I have a twitter account but have never sent a tweet except for tonight.

I tweeted a couple votes for a contestant on The Voice. #iamanerd

Had a Scarlet Tuesday today at work. Blech. 4 people short today. Add in it's towards the end of the month when sales people are pushing orders through....ugh.

Forgot to chime in on this. I went to K-8 Roman Catholic school. The church there...when I started, it was the old-school priests (women serve their men, preferably while barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen). As time went on, more modern priests came about. I agree, bbdl's debacle is on the priest, not the church. That is utter BS, and I would contact superiors about it.

Just got back from the visitation. It was supposed to go from 4 to 8, but it didn't get over until 11. The line wound though 2 gyms and took 3 and a half hours to get through. We figure 2000-3000 people showed up. There were about 50 flower bouquets, engraved benches a few trees and other gifts there. It was a very fitting tribute.

That's pretty awesome. Shows the impact he made.
