Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Good morning Lodge. Having breakfast watching the WJCs.

So now my remote works. At least to change channels and use the DVR. After my post last night and my call to Comcast and tweets to Comcast, I determined it was not the remote but actually the box. I haven't been able to use the remote for TV #1 or TV#2 to turn the TV on or off for about a month or adjust volume but could use the DVR. Last night remote for TV #1 wouldn't change the channel on TV #1 or allow me to use the DVR. I got remote for TV #2 to see if that would work on TV #1 and it wouldn't. Then I tried remote for TV #1 on TV #2 and it did work, at least to change channels and use the DVR. Remote for TV #2 worked on TV #2 (changing channels and using DVR). Now this morning, the remote works to change the channel and use the DVR. I can live with that for now.

Good Morning, Lodge!

Heading back to MN shortly. After going to my favorite breakfast joint. Temps are falling here, but I know it is going to be even colder at home.

Mornin'. Yep, cold out. Think I'll start my OC Sunday with some coffee with a lil' kick. Need to keep warm, you know. ;)

And of all weekends, this is the weekend my brother and some friends decided to go up north for snowmobiling. I have to admit, I'm laughing a little. :)

As a footnote on our game against Fargo South...

One of their parents was overheard (by my wife) saying "That number 3 is a dirty little ****."

My kid is #3. I took it as a compliment. :)
Well, if anyone would know, it would be them, right? ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #171: On Turkeys.

Who ever heard of not letting kids run their distance training on the roads? Lil has been running all his distance inside the JHS building. His legs are crap and there is no way you can get a good work out in doing that. He txt the coach last night and the guy said he can't trust some of the team to run outdoors. Are you e ffing kidding me? First they could only run where there were sidewalks and they had to be plowed (they never are). Not only that but our town doesn't have a lot of sidewalks even tho they are supposed to have them within 2 miles of the schools. Now because one kid ran in the middle of the school driveway, with everyone yelling at him, they can't run outside at all. I told lil he should skip practice and just run what he needs on his own but he is a Capt so can't do that. Basically his indoor season is shot. You can't run distance with no base. You can't run mileage on a cement floor. His knee has already started to swell on and off. I am not a happy camper. This is because some freshman's father went to the Superintendent during XC because he had reams of 'research' showing it wasn't safe for the kids to run on the roads. The kid quit before the season because he kept getting lost (he literally couldn't run straight down the road and find the school complex.) Joined the INdoor team and got lost when they were running on the sidewalk back and forth the mile in front of the school. Are you kidding me????!!!!

Phew. I feel better having a rant.

And in other news- Lil got early acceptance and is done the chose your college thing. Phew.
Lil is the Captain is he not? Tell him to hold Captain practices somewhere outside. Hell, couldn't they just go out and shovel off a lane or two of the track?

They have the track under construction. They have a school complex that has the HS, JHS the middle school and an elementary school in it.It has sidewalks but not everywhere. The HS is in the middle of renovation and the Track is also. He can't hold Capt practices because the season is in session.

Thankfully the coach recruiting him already wants him because he is not showing anyone anything this season.

Drive by from London Town....Paris was AWESOME!
Best part so far, there's a tremendous neighborhood pub stumbling distance from the flat we rented!
Later....

telling the coach to take a flying leap is a bad idea....

I don't know what the level was but I did know that the runners did do laps "around" the school early in the morning... first floor, stairs, second floor, stairs,... fourth floor... come back down floor by floor.

Do you guys have a dedicated athletic director? I know my HS did but I think we're probably bigger than Dracut.

Did you post the name of the college or is this still classified information? :)

If its Wisconsin, Boston College, Boston University, Maine, Florida State, North Dakota or Notre Dame she should keep it to herself! :D

I could list more (michigan), but you get the idea.

Good evenint Lodge.

The second rule of crossfit, is to tell everyone on Facebook how tough it really is, but it's still amazing.

I guess he never learned either rule. No posts by him yet re crossfit. On the other hand, I get to hear him whine all the time about how sore he is. Went through the same thing last time, should be better by next week.

So Gurt, the apple didn't fall from the tree, eh? :p

Took the boy with me to play in my men's groups this past summer for the first time(s).

I'm told that at one point while on the bench he says to some of my buddies, "I always thought my dad was a pretty nice guy till I saw him out here."

:D

To be fair, he wasn't playing any more chippy than anyone in that game(and didn't get any penalties, fwiw), but he plays hard all the time and pretty easily leads his team in hits, despite being the smallest kid on the team. He's very visible out there which is why the Nodak parent noticed him.

Trust me though, he's nowhere near the pr_ck that I can be at times. :p:D:cool:

How did Florida State make that list? :)
