Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

*HT. Joe Marsh has retired after 26 seasons behind the SLU bench (Didn't coach this year due to medical issues, causing the retirement). Probably one of the best coaches in the nation, and just an absolutely great guy to talk with. The program is being left in good hands, but you just can't replace a coach like Joe. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

A few weeks ago my college hockey night went something like this..............I was flipping back and forth as there were like four or five different games on TV. (FWIW picture in picture on a 60" is sweet) and I was listening to the BSU game via TuneIn radio with the iPhone via ear buds and I was posting on USCHO with the iPad.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Today just became awesome. Hopefully the awesomeness continues into the night for hockey...

2pm: the internet photoblog site The Chive releases small batch of St Patrick's Day Chive On shirts
2:01pm: place my order for an XL, since I see that all XXL and XXXL shirts are already sold out.
2:02pm: see confirmation screen
2:02pm (few seconds later): server crashes; have not received confirmation email
2:04pm: server comes back up, all shirts except S are sold out
2:11pm: receive confirmation email. YAYS!

The first batch they released a week or two ago resulted in the server crashing then, too. The cult-like following that this site has is insane; it helps that the runners of the site release certain shirts only at certain times, and in very small batches. Great marketing tool right there; creates hype and demand.

Good Afternoon, Lodge!

Hectic day here at work. Not surprised at all. We are always short-handed on Fridays.

Brent: I will bring the glasses to the tailgating. 2 correct? Also, Mr. wore Black has a bottle to give you. Enjoy!

I'd say great job but I have no idea what that site is or why it has a cult following. Though, I guess that doesn't really mean I shouldn't say great job.

Speaking of ordering stuff online, did I ever post about the Christmas gift I ordered back on December 10th that I was having issues with it not being shipped in time for Christmas? It showed up on Wednesday. March 7th. Almost three months to the day after I ordered it. They had to cancel and reorder it two times in order to get it to work. Thankfully they did not charge me for it at all. At least that's what they told me. We'll see if they do.

Heading out in about an hour for hockey. I'm thinking you might see me at the *hockey table this weekend. I read the student newspaper's preview with the coach and I just got kind of a sinking feeling from it. We'll see. Nothing would surprise me this weekend.

Branching off of Brent's t-shirt story, I really want to go look at/buy some new sauce hockey shirts at the X, I'm guessing they'll have biznasty stuff there.

Kinda like buying a Bag o' Crap from woot.

Every now and then they will put up what's called a Bag o' Crap for $3. You get 3 of literally whatever items they might have laying around. Might be connector cables, might be clothing, might be tools, might be electronics. There are rumors of people receiving big screen TVs in a Bag o' Crap.

They usually sell out within 60 seconds and crash the server.

I think BPH or Yager was telling me about that.

Scarlet: The Chive is just a site that has photo collections based on certain themes, like "Whatever You Do, Don't Saw Awwww...." (cute animal pics), or "Trip Down Nostalgia Lane," etc. There is a structure to it, meaning that on certain days you can look forward to certain themes, etc. And then every weekday they have a Daily Morning Awesomeness and Daily Afternoon Randomness.

Their main shirt is "Keep Calm & Chive On" which is based on an old British wartime campaign slogan "Keep Calm & Carry On." They made a special St Pat's shirt that has a clover instead of a crown over the saying, and the font is different. Needless to say, I wanted it. ;)

I can't believe you didn't include "Post on USCHO Score Thread" in your choices.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

My favorite galleries are Hump Day and Mind the Gap. :D

When they do it, Things That Bounce Thursday is great as well.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 146: Playoff Hockey Activities

Got home to a pleasant non-surprise, but good nontheless. New Oakley Polarized sunglasses that I bought the other day showed up in the mail, and they are pretty awesome. And even better, the new neat hat was on the doorstep, and it fits perfectly and looks friggin badass. So many details that aren't seen in the pics online! New neat hat will be unveiled at the F5, where the original earned it's moniker.

Hopefully the fiddle/banjo will arrive soon as well............;)

Nah, I like to listen to music but I am in no way capable of trying to make it, with the exception of singing in the shower. ;)
