Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

The dream of every MTU computer science major? :D
get em to all dress up like video game charactors and every last one of them would need to be in their bunk for a little while. ;)

Afternoon all, killing time between clients at Balance.

Howdy Lodge. So, so bored. Exhibit hall is dead today. We close down at 3pm. After lunch I'm going tchochke shopping.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

You're going where??

You know, all those stupid giveaways you get at trade shows. I got two flash drives, some notepads, little mini flashlights, a couple of nice canvas bags, that kind of stuff. No one wants to pack that stuff up and ship home so you can take what you want! I boxed up most of it to ship with all of our booth stuff so I don't have to try and get it thru customs. Flying home tomorrow!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

Oh.

I have a headache, and playing with this laptop doesn't help matters.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 134: Huh?

Just typed out my resignation letter. Get to confront the CEO tomorrow and tell him the news. Wonder if he'll have me walked out the door like the woman who resigned a few weeks ago. I doubt it, they're going to be hurting enough with my departure without making it harder by making it earlier. I expect they'll let me finish out the month like I plan.

Depends on the policy. At my work, if you quit, there's no walk-out, and you work until your last day. If you are fired (you do something bad enough to get fired) you are walked out. If you are fired because your work doesn't quite cut it, I think it depends on a multitude of things such as general attitude, etc.

And best of luck on your new endeavor!

Good luck to you, sir.

I finally had my review today. Basically, what they told me is this: I've rocked the probationary period, and they want to make sure I stick around. So they're immediately putting me in training to be an assistant manager, while giving me responsibilities and tasks related to my strengths and educational background. Among the duties involved:
-Fill-in product orders
-Scheduling
-Heading up all new employee training
-Creating and executing lessons for employees on in-store products
-Working with local high-school teams, setting up shoe fitting clinics, form clinics, etc
-Helping with community outreach and charitable work

That. Sounds. AWESOME. I'm pretty excited about this--it kinda feels and sounds more like a big kid job.

Good stuff! It's always good when they want to give you more responsibility and offer you more training.

The only risk will be that at some point you may feel like you are doing the assistant manager job at the store clerk pay rate.
