Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

Working Saturdays stinks. :( Hope you feel better soon......
One of the perks of being old is working at one place for a long time and earning a lot of vacation time. I mean a lot. :)

Right there with you. I have a feeling I may lose some of it, which stinks. I am taking Friday's off for most of July and August. I hope the weather is good on those days!!

Afternoon everyone!

Ralph, you forgot a choice for none. I shut my satellite off after the college season ended and won't be turning it back on until just before it starts again.

Wait....what??? You don't watch TV during at all? How do you watch without the dish?

Is that to finish creating your to-do list or finish the tasks on it?

For me, it's both.

Awesome. The VP of the company is currently en-route on vacation with his family to Niagara Falls. This morning I was left to do: an invoice that needs to be completed by 1pm Central, a proposal that's due to a partnering firm by close of business tomorrow and a stack of reports to okay and submit to another client by C.O.B. tomorrow.

Which is fine, I would have no problem getting them all finished ahead of time if our front desk receptionist/secretary hadn't upped and left around 10am without saying anything to anyone.

It also would have been nice if said secretary would have also informed me sooner than 9:30 am that I was supposed to be at a pre-construction meeting at 9. How nice having the president of the company have me in a closed door discussion at 11 asking why I was late to work (which I wasn't) and missed the meeting (I didn't know about).

Most of what I watch is available on the networks sites a day or two later (which is when I probably would have watched the show anyway on my DVR) and I have been using the Netflix streaming feature for older shows that I haven't seen in a while. Oh, and I broke down and ordered the entire season of Law & Order: CI on Amazon. Every week I download the latest episode onto my computer.

The hardest part has been the last two weeks. The connection here is not fast enough to stream video and do my work. :( That should change tomorrow when Comcast arrives to connect the internet and the phone. (yes, we are NOT getting cable from them, I like my DirecTV).

So. Technically, I can't get financial aid for the fall, which is why the plan was to take 3 summer classes, and then I'd be back in good standing and be able to get financial aid no problem. My biological dad was supposed to be giving me the money for classes, and on Monday, I found out he was only giving me a fifth of what I needed. Obviously I can't get a loan by myself, and because my parents have lost faith in me, they refuse to cosign on a loan, or let anyone else in my family cosign. PB attempted to cosign on a loan with me, got denied at a couple places, however Sallie Mae is seeming as if they may approve it. Granted, I don't find out until Monday (the day classes start). Basically, I'm either going to be out of school for like a year, or be a-ok. This waiting game SUCKS.

Sloe Vag, looks like you might win the bet after all.

recovering from the work picnic... 97 wonderful degrees outside... I need a nap, I need dinner, I need a shower... and some form of massage device would be cool right about now.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

Didn't you eat at the picnic???

lunch... that and when you run around and replenish the ground around you through your sweat you tend to shed off all those calories that were ingested (cookies :D)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

Despite the worrying, I got a fair amount done on the to do list (including making a spreadsheet of jobs to apply for tomorrow and Saturday while I'm temping). :) Now I just have to wait it out here until 9 and go home and tidy up a bit (apt. is in a bad way after the stress of school wrapping up this week.)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

One nice thing about having the latitude to arrange your work schedule? Getting to play a mid-week round of golf when your schedule permits.:D
Played with two people I didn't know at a course in Aurora. 42-39-81. I had two, three-putt greens which gave me bogeys instead of pars. Had I tidied things up there I'd have been 79. Still, a good solid round for me with nine pars and nine bogeys, Really crushed it off the tee today, but some of my wedge play was poor. Already looking forward to my next round.

A refreshing shower, then a frosty marg, a steak on the grill and fresh corn on the cob for dinner. Have a good night all.;)

Got the remaining brush cut up in the back yard so I can haul it away on Saturday.

Back in a minute. Gotta turn on the homer light. :D

EDIT: There. Saturday is the last day to get rid of brush and recycling, as Adrian is discontinuing the recycling in their infinite wisdom. I had some good sized tree limbs that needed to be cut up so that they could fit in the back of the truck.

As much as we make fun of you, good luck. Deciding that college isn't for you (now or ever) is one thing, but not having the chance is another entirely.

Evening, Lodge. Good day at work (despite the Marine Corps taking over the middle of the complex for most of the day), but a *tty commute home with freeway construction. Eh well, dinner was good.

Learn your lessons, bide your time.

Major lesson... you can't do it all. Prioritize what you want... are you plugging your "official" calendar at expense of social life? Are you plugging your social life ahead of your "official" calendar. 168 hours of the week... there are limits on what you can do... how much are you playing for now? how much are you playing for the future?

Ain't nothing wrong with the here and now... otherwise none of us would get to hockey games :) But, academics and ability trump all first and foremost... especially if you want to be a scientist/engineer... yeah, you can be management but then that's also ability. College needs to be the time to demonstrate and hone those abilities into an able human... but rarely does anybody know that in the moment.

ctf, you know you can do it... take this year to figure out what you really want to do... the dream has ended... work towards your reality now. I don't think anybody doubts you are able.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

Thanks guys. :)
As hard as it would be to be at Tech and living in the sorority without actually being in the sorority (which is what will happen should I not take the summer classes), a lot of my sisters have told me that they still want me to be here even if I'm not an AST, so that may make being on campus a little easier. (I was worried about being on a campus and seeing all of my "former" sisters all of the time) I think if I don't get the loan now, I'm going to appeal my financial aid for the fall, and from what I've heard, because of the argument I've got, I've got a good chance for it to get approved, so I may be able to give it at least another semester. I've learned a lot about what doesn't work, I think it's about time to try what really does.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 115: What sports do you watch in the off-season?

So I think I figured out what those worthless twats at Jiffy Lube did to my car. I changed the air filter and replaced the brake pads tonight. When I was opening the air filter housing, I noticed how loose it was, and that there was a loose wire. I looked around for something that looked like it needed a wire plugged in, and sure enough there, on the air hose coming off the fan was an empty port in reach of that loose cable. I plugged it back in. After about 30 minutes of driving, the car started shifting smoothly again and the check engine light shut off.

Jiffy Lube sucks my ***.
