Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 113: Whutchu talkin' about, Meyer?

Whats up from Piraeus, Greece? It's been a pretty good trip so far, we hit some pretty big storms the first week out, but it's been smooth sailing since. Malaga, Spain was was a pretty nice port, especially weather wise, clear skies and 80's. We're here in Greece for the next 2 days, then 12 days of wasting time to Dublin, Ireland for 4 days, where I intend on having a pint of guinness fresh from the factory for all of you. Hope all is well with everybody here, I'll check back in come morning (0045 here now) since we have wifi in the port.

Say hi to my relatives!! I was literally just loading my Greece pictures on my computer.

I was also watching Friday Night Lights from Friday. It only recorded 41 minutes. I wonder if we had a power outage or something. I hope it's on NBC.com.

hahah, sure thing. I couldn't get off the ship today, but will be the next 2 days. Initial word is that Athens is the place to go and seeing all the sights are definitely top of the list. Looking forward to getting out tomorrow for a while and enjoying some mythos.

Stuffed shells are in the process of being attempted. We'll see how well this turns out.

I had some leftover broiled schrod that I got at a restaurant this afternoon. And I cut up some red pepper, carrots, cucumber and feta cheese. I figure I will probably be eating like crap when I travel this week so I should probably try and eat something healthy today.

Sounds delicious!

Evening, Lodge. Had grilled chicken with an orange marmalade rub along with baked potatoes and grilled zucchini for dinner tonight. I actually feel... what's that word... full?

While attending Michigan in the mid-to-late 70s, my dad worked at a seafood restaurant in Ann Arbor where the Friday & Saturday night specials always included scrod. Now, you hardly ever see it in the Midwest anymore.

Do you all still see haddock and cod? or have they also faded off menus in the Midwest?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 113: Whutchu talkin' about, Meyer?

Cod shows up at the fish fries around here. Good stuff.

Cod (the real North Atlantic kind, not pollock cleverly marketed as "Alaskan cod"), can be found a few times throughout the year, usually at a premium over other more common sorts of "whitefish". Occasionally, getting surprised with real cod at a fish fry is a treat.

Haddock is actually fairly easy to find if you're willing to pay a little more for it.
