I'll pass on all of the game. Give me corn-fed beef, everytime.
You've never shot your own steer?I agree with this post - But it's not as fun to acquire![]()
Antelope is pretty good. For a game animal I'll put it above Deer and Moose, but IMO nothing's as delicious as an Elk steak.![]()
You've never shot your own steer?![]()
. Mrs. Gonzo and I had T bones on the girl with asparagus and scallions and mushrooms last weekend.
We haven't shot our own unless it was necessary, like when a steer breaks a leg and can't go to market, so we have to shoot it and butcher it at the farm. This has happened maybe twice that I can remember at our farm. But it has happened.I've never had "my own" steer to shoot![]()
Or I would!![]()

I get my beef from an aunt and uncle who live in Brook Park, MN. Mrs. Gonzo and I had T bones on the girl with asparagus and scallions and mushrooms last weekend. I got the beef from their farm and all but the mushrooms from my garden. I should have fried up an egg to go along with it. It's good to know the source of all your foods![]()
I figured you'd like steak off a girl but the Mrs too.? Nice![]()

I'm insanely jealous.
I think the Spam plant would be the only place that would take that sow now.My Morel spot hasn't panned out yet this year. I'll check this weekend if it stops raining.
My grandpa was a pig farmer. I wasn't there when it happened, but Mom told me that once he was loading some for market when an old sow started going after him in the chute to the truck. He swung a ball peen hammer on it, killing it instantly. The guy with the truck said "Hurry up! I can get it to St. Paul while it's still warm!"
God bless the farmers. They're a pragmatic bunch.![]()

I've heard horror stories about trucks getting turned down by the dog food plant, and taking animals across the street to the Spam plant.
Where did you get antelope?!
I stopped at Burrito Loco after checking out that apartment last night. When I was eating my burrito, these 2 girls tried to go upstairs to the bar, got stopped and ID'd. They gave the bouncer guy IDs, the guy spends about 20 seconds looking at them, since they definitely didn't look 21, then asks to see a credit card. Credit card doesn't match name on ID. BUSTED! It was hilarious. The bouncer kept the fake and the girls complained and made excuses to no end. The girls excuse: This is my mom's purse, and these are her credit cards.
How does he know that the age is correct, if it wasn't her ID? I'm guessing it wasn't her ID if the skin color was wrong. My brother worked the door of a bar for a while when he was in college. One night, this woman came up and pulled out her ID without being asked. She looked old enough; my brother wasn't going to check her ID. She thrusts it out to him, so he takes it. The age was correct. The skin color wasn't. She didn't get in.
Good point, I think he meant that the age on the ID was over 21. I do remember the girl pitched a fit over my brother taking her ID away from her.How does he know that the age is correct, if it wasn't her ID? I'm guessing it wasn't her ID if the skin color was wrong.

Ahhh, I read that wrong. I was thinking that she didn't get in despite being over 21. I understand now.The age was right, as in, "The ID listed the person's age as over 21".
