Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

Good morning tLodge! I actually got out of bed before 10am! I am so proud of myself. :D On tap today, shipping another sold book and more packing. Yay.

How does crinkle-cut pickles make a hamburger better than some other pickle slice?

I just don't understand advertising these days.
I would think that the crinkle cut pickles are thicker than the regular pickles. Plus it just sounds better in the ad.

You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna get myself a 1967 Cadillac El Dorado convertible, hot pink with whaleskin hub caps and all leather cow interior and big brown baby seal eyes for headlights, yeah! And I'm gonna drive around in that baby at 115mph getting one mile per gallon, sucking down quarter pounder cheese burgers from McDonald's in the old-fashioned non-biodegradable styrofoam containers and when I'm done sucking down those grease ball burgers, I'm gonna wipe my mouth with the American flag and then I'm gonna toss the styrofoam container right out the side and there ain't a God ****ed thing anybody can do about it. You know why? Because we got the bombs, that's why.
I love that song. One of the radio stations used to play it from time to time on my morning drive. It always made my day!

Howdy Kids
Have to get blood drawn this morning, no eating until thats done and I'm hungry already:p
I was supposed to have mine Monday morning. Sunday night around 10:45 I was starving. As I was pouring a bowl of cereal I remembered that I was supposed to be fasting. So much for that idea, the cholesterol tests will have to wait until I see the doc again in November.

Surface area?

In other news, I just re-discovered that I have Denis Leary's "No Cure For Cancer" on my computer. Hil-freaking-larious.
:D

I love to smoke. I love to smoke and I love to eat red meat. I love to eat raw *ing red meat. Nothing I like better than sucking down a hot steaming cheese burger and a butt at the same time. I love to smoke. I love to eat red meat. I'll only eat red meat that comes from cows who smoke, ok!? Special cows they grow in Virginia with voice boxes in their necks. "MOO!!!"
What was the problem with just smoking a joint, eating a couple of Twinkies, and going to sleep? Was that a problem? They say marijuana leads to other drugs. No it doesn't, it leads to ****ing carpentry. That's the problem, folks. People getting high going, "Wow man, this box would make an excellent bong! *snort* This guy's head would make an excellent bong! *snort*" Relax! That's why I stopped doing drugs in the first place. Not because I didn't like 'em, but because I didn't want to build anything, ok?

Good morning, Lodge. This rest thing actually feels good...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

My wife and I celebrated our anniverasry last night by going to a terrific restaurant in Larimer Square: Rioja. For the resident "foodies" in the LODGE....

Madame Shot selected the Colorado lamb two ways: grilled t-bone, house made lamb merguez sausage, crisp couscous pillows, caramelized fennel, tomato coulis and preserved lemon yogurt. She also had a nice crisp galss of chardonnay.

Monsieur Shot selected the braised goat and spinach pappardelle pasta with fresh artichokes, pistachios, dates and Haystack Mountain goat cheese. A nice glass of Gnarly Head merlot as well.

For dessert we shared the pineapple trio: pineapple upside down cake; pineapple napoleon and pineapple-jicama salad.

It was our first time dining there. It won't be our last. :)

I'm sorry, but I can't past the phrase "braised goat".

They (and I) didn't know I'd be pregnant when I scheduled the appointment. I made it six months ago. But that would probably explain why the doc wasn't too worried about not being able to run that panel. They did run the usual blood counts, liver, kidney, & not so usual thryroid but only because she was a little concerned that I was still sleeping 10hours a night.

She's pregnant, not having hot flashes. :D

And yes, I knew you knew that...

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #111: Filling in for the night shift

   They do all that with a prego screen. Of course you are sleeping! you are pregnant and not 16 yrs old. If you can sleep get it now:D :p

They do, but it was easier to draw the blood than get the records from the OB. Besides, things could have changed in a couple of months. (I think my preg blood screen was back in February). Hey, my doc is being overly careful, given the alternatives, I am not going to argue with her. (Also, I think she is worried because my appetite hasn't returned either. I'm not nauseous, I just don't want to eat)

And yes, I am trying to stock up on the sleep now, but once in a while I'd like to do something besides sleep and work. :)

Good morning Lodge. Did I mention that I'm supposed to be going to Denver in July? For work. Nothing set yet, but I believe I will be going.
Lucky! Once I get out of school... :)

That sounds fantastic. I'm quite jealous except of dessert (not a huge pineapple fan), but I'd be willing to try it.
Easy solution. Quit working.
Indeed.

Hello from school! Just took my last exam of the semester before finals. *fingers crossed* All homework is turned in, so the only thing to do now is to start preparing for finals (and watch Iron Man tonight with tcbg in IMAX.) :)

Ewe, The meal was terrific. My wife and I thought the two most intriguing entrees on the menu were the ones we selected. We shared bits and pieces of each other's dinner.

I've always been someone who enjoys menus featuring game/slightly exotic meat selections. While goat doesn't qualify as game, for me, its taste was quite similar to antelope.....sweet, lean and delicious. It was the first time I'd had goat and I enjoyed it. There were other entrees on the menu I'd like to try as well, but if goat continues to be a feature of the menu I'll try it again.

Rioja is consistently listed in the top ten restaurants in metro-Denver by newspapers, food critics, magazines, et cetera.

My wife and I enjoy pineapple so the dessert was a treat for us. The pineapple-jicama salad was great. Tiny, freshly cut cubes of each. I told my wife it would make a great chutney/salsa/relish accompaniment to a spicy entree. Since she's an intrepid chef, I think she'll use it in a dinner at home sometime soon. :)

Antelope cut with a little pork to add some fat makes very good bratwurst, but it has been so long since there was an antelope in our freezer, I can't remember what the plain old steaks were like.

This September, my mom & dad are going to do the "Big Western Road Trip" that they've dreamed about for years (mainly a tour of national parks), and dad is supposed to spend some time hunting another antelope. The one he got several years ago was just a few points shy of Boone & Crockett status, but I somehow doubt he'll be as lucky this time.

This is my favorite way to dine.

Where did you get antelope?!

Just realized an egregious mistake I made when I was looking at my grad school applications. In all the stress/confusion of registering for my current (spring) classes and the upcoming summer classes, I neglected to remember that I need Microbiology, in addition to Anatomy & Physiology 1 and 2. There is a school that offers it and works with my schedule, but classes start on Tuesday (like in less than a week) and I hadn't budgeted for this extra class :o *sigh* It's a fixable mistake, but certainly changes...pretty much everything.

The last time my wife and I went to Santa Fe, I had the best antelope dinner. The name of the restaurant is Lambert's. Antelope is the leanest, sweetest tasting game meat I've had. I enjoy it.
