Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

Morning lodge
(barely)

Got a call long after I was asleep last night that a printer in a critical area had crapped out. I race in to work this morning at 0dark:100 and find the printer outside the office - disassembled! I said, "uh, what's up here?"
"You didn't return our call so we called maintenance. They couldn't fix it either"
Me - "Yeah. So much for our warranty"

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

CC to Ralph -- I'm looking (or rather, trying to look) into my German ancestry. I've been able to document back to the passenger list of the ship that my ancestors came to the United States on. Someone on ancestry.com has a family tree with my ancestors going all the way back to the 1500s in Rheinland-Pfalz, but there are no sources so I can't verify any of that information. Any ideas where I can look to find more information about births, deaths, marriages, etc.? I've looked and looked and looked on ancestry.com and I can't find anything beyond 1855, when they came to the US. I looked a couple other places as well but I can't really find much. If you have any ideas or anything you can e-mail me (abodamer at gmail dot com). I'd be super appreciative of anything :)

If you can figure out what (specific) city they lived in, there's a good chance you can trace church baptism and marriage records. Part of my family comes from Germany as well, and they're recorded well into the 1500s.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

It's Thursday so I have my post work night out for a drink. Vodka is made from potatoes, right? I think I can have one drink. Don't want to have more than that as I should probably be in church instead. :o

some vodka is potato; others are corn or grain. Ketel is my favorite and it's potato.

With my swing, I'd be lucky to ever get sub-10 handicap. I have a flawed swing, no hope to be Tiger-esk. :p

well then, I'm out of here. Good day, puss-cake.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

Job interview today. Already made the first cut with the phone interview a little over a week ago. My suits don't fit very well, this will be uncomfortable. Not a job that I really want to do, but the days of being a dreamer must come to an end.

DIE, HEART! DIE!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

And you didn't devorce him on the spot for not knowning who Guy Lafleur is???
No, he's not into hockey, so he got a pass.

Congrats, dl! Nice job!

At the apartment and cleaning up. Not tons of stuff to get rid of, but still not the way I'd like to spend my day. I have all the doors open with the fans blowing. Hopefully that will make up for not being around for the next few days. A friend should be dropping by to check on the place while I'm gone. *sigh* Had to get rid of my skates. :(
:( *hugs*

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

Maybe you've explained this before, if so, sorry. You can eat lentil soup when you're fasting? I don't know much about this especially how the traditions/beliefs differ from religion to religion, but I was thinking that fasting meant only drinking water.

Most vodka is made from corn, though there is potato vodka.
There are different levels of fasting.

Boos, Mayen-Koblenz, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.

But so far, that also has led me nowhere. I think part of the problem is that I don't read German.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

Am I missing any legitimate April Fools threads this year?

Should I start one? too obvious?

The Mormons have filmed Catholic church records back to 1799 for Boos http://www.familysearch.org/eng/lib...titleno=422095&disp=Kirchenbuch&columns=*,0,0. They can be ordered at any Family History Center http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp .

I suspect that lack of knowledge of German won't be a problem. Most such records are in Latin. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 107: Now What??

Do you want me to start a "Tim Army has been FIRED!" thread?

that's not funny, it's just cruel.

I think Army gets together with Whitehead, Russell, Kyle, Lucia, Comrie and Umile so they can have a hardy laugh at this message board.

Well, I don't know Latin either! :p

nmu_27 found those same records for his family that came from Germany. There's a site in Marquette that they can be sent to, so that might be something we look into doing this summer.

There are different levels of fasting.

From our friends at Wikipedia: Fasting.

That link said pretty much what I've been brought up to believe. The first week of Lent, Holy Week, and Wednesdays and Fridays during Lent. Though I think I screwed up with the olive oil as the lentil soup I ate was made with it. It did say to abstain from alcohol, but it also said you should be giving, so I think tipping hottie bartender for making me a drink fits into that category. :)

Our head Corporate PR guy that I work with is a BC grad. He has a good friend who he has gone to some games with, and we talk hockey quite a bit. Should BC win next week I am buying him a hat or a shirt. Anyway, he comes over to tell me he talked to this good friend and the friend is apparently aware of USCHO and I think posts. I told him I do, too, hesitated, and then told him to tell his friend that I'm Scarlet. And he was like "OMG - this guy said the BU fans were great and one poster Scarlet is one of the best ones of the group!" Heh. It worries me a bit that this guy now knows my screen name. Not that he has time to check out the site but I don't need one of the top guys in this department to know how much time I spend here. :o

I don't think I'd want anyone at work to know my screenname either. :p
