Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 105: 2010 Assessment
It ended last Saturday - It's always at the X the weekend before the Final Five.
Edina defeated Minnetonka for the AA title. Hill-Murray defeated Apple Valley for 3rd place.
Breck defeated Hermantown for the A title.
GE, Thanks for your good wishes concerning the Pioneers in your rep. I'm torn about this weekend's games. Bear with me for a moment.
I'm someone who feels what seed a team has in the NCAA field doesn't matter much. With a few exceptions in the field of sixteen, I think any team can win the NCAA tourney with a combination of good goaltending and timely scoring.
Like many posters, I've played around with the PWR Predictor and,
apparently, even if Denver loses both its game this weekend it would still receive one of the four #1 seeds in the NCAA tourney. Since I have no idea how the other conference tournaments will unfold this weekend, I can't say that there's an advantage which accrues to Denver if it wins both its game this weekend.
Denver is 4-0 against North Dakota this season and I think it becomes increasingly difficult to beat a team, let's say, 4-5-6 times in a season. I won't go "on and on" about the Final Five, but Denver's play through the regular season is what earned the team the strong position it holds right now in the PWR. If Denver wins the Final Five I'll be pleased, but the far more meaningful games begin next week. If Denver puts together a four game win streak at that point then I'll look like this guy====>
.
I hope you get to see the games this weekend either in person or on the tube. I'll have the big screen cranked up and ready to go.
