This is worse - much worse. Couple with the idiot last week in the WHL, what the heck is going on up there?

Both players should take an extended period off from the ice rink.

How is Tam? Last I read, he can at least talk to his Mom at his hospital bedside.

What kind of punishment does a player get for something like that?

Tam's in stable condition and is expected to be released from the hospital tomorrow morning.

Cormier should be suspended for the rest of the season, but I fear that it won't even be that long. Criminal charges would be great, but I can't really see that panning out. I can't wait until he gets to the NHL so someone can just pound his face in and teach him a real lesson.

Not much new - they do say, "indefinite suspension".

"The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League has suspended Rouyn-Noranda Huskies' forward Patrice Cormier indefinitely for his hit on Quebec Remparts' defenseman Mikael Tam which occurred during Sunday's game.

QMJHL Disciplinary Prefect Raymond Bolduc confirmed Monday that an announcement on the official length of the suspension will be made once the disciplinary process has been completed."

He doesnt deserve to play again in that league.

There is absolutely no excuse for that. Disgusting. The kid didn't have the puck, it was no where near the play. What the heck makes someone do something that stupid and nasty?

I would have hoped that Lou Lamarilo and the Devils would have made a statement of discust rather than hiding like he did

The cheap shot during the exhibition game against Sweden was bad enough, but this is just despicable.
I hope he's banned from the league for AT LEAST the rest of the season.

Hopefully Tam has a complete recovery. :(

How was that kid the captain of any team, let alone the Canadian WJC?

TSN (the only place for good hockey news) is reporting that the AHL may just "take a look" at the incident if Cormier is assigned to the AHL by the NJD at the completion of his Jr. season.

Edit: Finished Bob McKenzie's book on Cofessions of a (Crazy?) Hockey Parent. Both his kids had concussions playing hockey. In Mike's (SLU '10) case, he got it playing provincial Junior A while wearing a 1/2 shield. After he got cleared (which took a while), Bob made him wear the cage for the rest of his Jr A career. Bob claims that is save at least one face smushing. If Tam had been wearing a full cage, the effects of the Cormier elbow may have been mitigated.

Then again, if Cormier had the elbow down, we would not be talking about this, would we?

League just announced

Suspended for the balance of the regular season & play-offs.
Done in the "Q" this year.

...what a cheap hit! B@##strd" is only 19.. i'm sorry this suspension is not enough.

Send a msg to young players now... this guy should be out of hockey.

If not.. there is so much worng with the sport on many levels... just this fan's opinion.

Seeing the convulsions - that's an image that will be hard to forget. It is shocking that a player with that type of mentality is picked to represent Canada.

The devils have said they will respect the ruling and will not have cormier suit up until his Q team has been eliminated from the playoffs at the very earliest.
