Re: Regionals attendance
The post above was supposed to be a reply to # 17, but I forgot to link the quote. Still too early here in the North Woods. I blame it on all the snow and ice affecting my cognitive function. At the end of March, ice belongs on a rink, not on my roof...
I would suggest that we could play this year's MW Regional on frozen ponds such as Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, or Lake Huron, though I think attendance would be about as low as I'm presuming it was for Ferris-Colgate. We still have plenty of ice here to share with our neighbors. Good for happy hours.
Presume this Cincinnati regional is because there must be a "local" host school, in this case Miami Redhawks, with Oxford 30-35 miles away from Cincinnati. Attendance in Game Two looked decent, no doubt bolstered by how well the Still Sioux travel as well as the loyal army of UW alums who make it to games played anywhere on the planet. Since goofy ESPN, which only recognizes the game of college hockey two weeks a year (while pestering us ad infinitum about EuroSoccer and other minutiae), chose to blackout the country from Ferris' survival of a close brush with Colgate (TM Pending), don't know what Game One looked like, but I'm guessing there were echoes in the building. Congrat's to Still Sioux and the Buellers, hoping for a fun game in the Queen City today.
