Is it just me, or does Ryan Knight of the new Real World New Orleans appear to be a bit of a luddite and all around walking stereotype of a dumb hockey player (like in Canada, he would totally be a hoser, eh?). I was cringing for the ability of this Wisconsin native to fit in at the beginning of the show but he really grew on me as it went on. Not a polished speaker , Knight proved to be a calming figure in the house in Epidsode 1, tolerant of others, always up to party and all around better guy than Ryan the 'hairdresser' who outduelled him in an initial verbal sparring match. Knight has his revenge in the end credits (...I mean come on, I'd be really embarrassed if I was punched by a hairdresser, wouldn't you??")
So in the introductory bios, there is significant on ice footage of Knight playing pick-up hockey with friends where he tells us he 'could have went somewhere with hockey' (pro?!?) but had to have multiple surgeries on both shoulders which left him addicted to painkillers and put him in rehab. I peg him as a former D-III in Wisconsin -- or else he was just really out of shape D-I who really went downhill in his early 20s? Thoughts?
