Rankings??

It was they were 6th in "others receiving votes"

Nah, MarkEagle has it right. They were ranked something like #26 in best libarts schools in some review I think, can't remember if it was a northeast or national comparison though. Princeton review or Forbes or some such list. They saw it as a major source of celebration, and got mocked for celebrating mediocrity.

Re: Rankings??

Has nothing to do with the national championship, or even hockey for that matter. IIRC, it was an academic ranking in the Princeton Review or some such thing. That and "St Clooud" were epic moments here on USCHO. ;)

Correction, it was St, Clooud. You can't forget the comma, it brings the whole meme together, man. It's like a really great rug.

To the Union fan(s) that were upset by this and felt it necessary to dole out negative rep, get over yourselves. The whole #26 Union/St, Clooud thing was started by one of your own. Had absolutely nothing to do with hockey and was funny as hell at the time (at least to those of us on the outside). Of course, since then, you've taken home some hockey hardware and I respect that more than you'll ever know. However, in USCHO lore, #26 Union will never be forgotten.
