Quinnipiac & Princeton @ RPI & Union (2/17, 2/18)

Re: Quinnipiac & Princeton @ RPI & Union (2/17, 2/18)

Second Mankato game. The one where the player punches our guy for snowing the goalie, and they get a two minute 5-on-3.

That sounds about right for him. I am not really familiar with Ciamaga-which could be a good thing since I mostly remember the bad calls mostly and never notice when the game is called well.

is this the 1st time we've seen Hicks @ HFH this year?

I think it's his first men's game at HFH. He has reffed a good number of women's games, interestingly enough.

EDIT: Oh, apparently not.

He may have done something this year, but he is new (or co-refs with another league).

Ciamaga did the Dart. game at HFH (NBC Sports). IIRC, it was a fairly called game...http://www.collegehockeystats.net/1112/boxes/mdarren1.j06 Hicks did do the 2nd Mank.St. game this year...17 penalties combined!

Thanks Turk-the dartmouth game on TV seemed well controlled and they did not call a ton of unnecessary stuff. He did give us the chance to get back in the game IIRC with a 5 on 3 that we scored on. Hicks-has been very inconsistent for us. Some games that he has been inovlved in have been out of control penalty fests.

it seems whenever the game involves Hicks or Kotyra (McDonald is quickly catching up) due to their inconsistent handling of the game, the games evolve into a lot of pushing/roughing/facewashing and another good game is ruined...for both teams.

It also gets ruined for fans that enjoy fundamental hockey with good checking. Don't tell the ones that like the fighting, though. ;)

I have mentioned many times that I consider Kotyra the worst ref for our games going back to the Noeth era. Others have been bad at times (some pretty frequently) but he is consistently horrible for us. Last time we played QU we did not take a lot of penalties-although Luke did get hit with that 5 minute major and game misconduct. I don't expect this to be a penalty free game-but i do think our chances are better in most games without significant specialty team time. (in spite of our PK being pretty good this year)
