Other notable notes:
Lori Onofrio is finally officially retiring.
Rand talked about the returning core and new additions and was very optimistic about the strength of next season's team.
They're still working on Jeremy Wilmers red shirt.

As usual, another fine afternoon in a different setting than we're used to seeing these guys.

Only 24 weeks to go!

Thanks for the recap, Mark. Mason is going to be a fantastic captain. So happy for him.

Really excited for next season. Especially excited to open with UNH/Merrimack at home and having Army and Penn State back on the schedule. From what I understand, Rand had been trying to schedule Army for a while and now it's finally happening. PSU is a return trip after the Nittany Lions came to Hamden in 2024-25.

24 weeks until the puck drops!

I think there are 2 games missing for non-conference they are probably working on.

22 ECAC games
Mark has the 10 non leagues he found out so there has to be 2 more in there for 34. They had 36 this year because they had the ice breaker exception.

One of them might be UMass. Rand had mentioned in the Game Notes Podcast 2 weeks ago that the Minutemen are on the schedule.

The other? BC? They do owe us a home game after going to Chestnut Hill last season.

I don’t think BC owes us a game. They played in 21-22 vs BC, 22-23 at BC, 23-24 vs BC, they skipped a year, then they played at BC this year.

It's possible CT Ice could have us playing Yale in the opening round as a league game like a few years ago. That would still leave 1 open date.

When they last placed at CT Ice it was in Hartford and Yale gave up the home game. But it might make sense to have this a league game and get someone better for another non league game.

Chances are it's QU's turn to play Yale in the opening round. Making that a league game would make a ton of sense.

Quinnipiac's opening round CT Ice opponent history:
2026 vs SHU
2025 vs UConn
2024 vs Yale
2023 vs SHU
2022 vs SHU
2021 no tournament
2020 vs UConn

Lori Onofrio was there when I was in student media and she's terrific. Congrats to her on retirement -- people like that are the lifeblood of the program and make everything run smoothly. Our success is nothing without Lori and the rest of the support staff.

Starting the year with BC seems to be commonplace lately so hopefully we can get them in the schedule. My wife is a PSU alumni so we will be there. I went to an Army/Vermont game a few seasons ago so will be nice having them on the schedule again.
