First, I give everyone involved in the ECAC this season a ton of credit for attempting to make it a season. The sacrifices everyone had to make just to be able to play a game were extraordinary. And even then, every teams had issues to deal with throughout the season. Clarkson and SLU couldn't even finish. A crtazy season indeed.
As for the Bobcats, well, they just didn't have a killer instinct this season. I believe it was a combination of several factors, and it would be unfair to say it falls at the feet of the players or the staff. With last season cut short and this one rocky from the get go, these kids overcame some unprecedented obstacles. I'm sure they left everything on the ice last night. I'm content that they had the chance.
My hope is that all the adversity this season makes for a stronger team next season...
Congrats to Odeen, Keith, Joe, and Josh. A great 4 years and you're leaving the team in better shape than when you started.
Odeen was magical and extremely fun to watch. He was an unsung hero for sure.
Keith paid his dues playing behind Shortridge but made his presence known when given his turn.
That's why both these guys are Hobey finalists. Longshots, but finalists nonetheless.
Joe was always fun to watch. A saw his tweet from after the game last night and must say the room got a little dusty.
Finally, Josh will leave as one of the most respected members of this team. We as fans only saw some very brief glimpses of his on-ice abilities but the ovation and adulation he got from his teammates was second to none Ive seen in the years I've been following this team.
As much as I would have liked to see them playing tonight and maybe getting back to Pittsburgh with a win, I'm thankful to have been able to see them at all this season. I look forward to next season and hope that I'll be able to see them in person once again.
Thank you to the players, staff, and administration that made this season possible, and, once again, thank you to the seniors who gave it all each and every game. Best of luck to all four of you with whatever your futures hold.
