C'mon Q!
The new season is here.

New-look sweaters with the addition of "Quinnipiac" in the new font above the logo. Looks nice actually.

I like the look of the team too. The freshmen that played were all good. There were no glaring problems that I saw. I was especially impressed by Zach Metsa #23 on defense. He seemed to be all over the puck all night. Positionally in the right place at the right time. Offensively, all the freshman handled the puck well. The upper classmen were all solid as well.

Overall, a very good showing for their first game together on the ice. As usual, the PP needs some tuning but the PK looked very good. Petruzelli and Shortridge split time in net and both looked good although a think KP would like the first goal back. Shortie gave up one off a rebound that he had no chance on as the play was in close.

We'll see what they're made of next weekend at Vermont.

UVM game is big considering what they did to Michigan.
 
I was at the game Saturday and have to say I am optimistic. They were completing passes and making plays that last year would have failed. The upperclassmen stepped up and the freshmen did well. Now they need to keep it up Vermont will be no pushover.

I was amazed at how well they read each other. Hopefully that's a good sign of things to come.

Plugging the ECAC Pick the Standings contest again. All you have to do is guess what the final standings will be! Entries close in a couple weeks when the puck drops on the conference slate. Thanks!

Was just looking at the roster on the QU mens hockey page and noticed Keith Petruzzzelli's brother DJ is no longer listed. Do we know whats up?

Possibly cut? He was in the building Saturday along with Matt Creamer and Devin Moore who were also cut from the team.

Wonder if there’s a link to the commitment of Fear. Perhaps KP is leaning toward turning Pro at the end of the year and DJ is looking for other opportunities. Fear is a 1999 so he’s probably a 2019-20 roster spot. Maybe a safety net, with Josh being the odd man out of KP stays?

If KP doesn't substantially up his game over last season I don't see him going anywhere. I think Fear is just another goalie in the pipeline for the future.

He is just another goalie for the future. They only had one future goalie committed prior to Fear in Justin Robbins and he is more of a 3rd string guy anyways. They needed someone that could be a future starter and Fear is likely that.

Excited to see this if this team can rebound after last season's disappointing season. Where's everyone's confidence level at for '18-'19?

After seeing them last weekend I'm thinking they'll do okay. The freshmen didn't look like freshmen playing together for the first time. Tonight will be a really good barometer for what the season holds.

I think the key to success this season is between the pipes. Shortie and KP need to be on top of their games.

My confidence level is 90% right now.

The roster showed 9 freshmen on the gameday squad tonight. That's a pretty incredible amount all things considered. We'll see some bumps along the road, but a really solid comeback to start things off.

Way to hang in there and get it done! After a real sluggish start they seemed to come alive in the 2nd but couldn't figure out Lekkas. But they stuck around and it paid off in the 3rd. Good to see Chase and Tufto carry the team in the 3rd.

Excellent win on the road boys!
