Ask and ye shall receive. https://youtu.be/9xkC9ARQDtA?t=2h19m55s

You'll notice the QU defender come up from behind and make contact with Oksanen's back while his stick is fully around him. Should've been a minor for tripping or hitting from behind, not a major penalty at all as Ahti's momentum brought him into the boards. But to say that it was "questionable" that it was a hit is absurd, and the comment Wong made in the other thread that it was "incidental" is even more ridiculous.

Yeah, I'll be honest. Because of the outcome :(, this is the first video of the game I've watched. In person, live, with the speed of the game it didn't appear to me that Oksanen was tampered with. From our perch it looked like two bodies skating hard toward the corner and physics took over. After watching it again a couple of times, I do think a minor was warranted, definitely not a major as you asserted. I have no issue admitting that I had this one wrong I was just going off what I saw live. Now, here is where I would normally defend the officials and say they had the same perception that I had. Ya know, a quick play, anyone can go back and make a call after seeing the replay but I simply can't give them the benefit of the doubt. Bad night all around for the officials and they missed this one among others. As I stated in the BU thread, I hope the kid is okay.

It happens. Remains to be seen how long he'll be out, appears to be a separated shoulder.

What was quite one-sided, however, was the officiating, specifically non-call against the home team. Forsbacka Karlsson was cross-checked to the ice right in front of an official, and that was just one of several. It's become a pattern with ECAC refs in non-conference games.

I can't speak of the officiating in this game because I did not watch it. What I can comment on is my observation over the years (many years) of watching college hockey. Our teams have been hosed more by Hockey East officials than any homer job that any ECAC officiating crew has ever done. In fact, one of the laments of the many who post on USCHO and watch, is that when other conferences come into ECAC arenas, our officials seem "to favor" the visitors more as opposed to home cooking. I've been out West for games....Yost in particular and watching those officials or those in the WCHA favor the home teams over the years has been laughable. Earlier in the year I was at the SLU/Merrimack game. Several questionable calls went against SLU while in the other direction an SLU player was hauled down on a breakaway. Not only was there no penalty shot there wasn't even a penalty called. Our coach railed against the non call only to be told by the H.E. referee to shut up.

I guess no matter the conference we are all going to complain that our teams get hosed or that the home conferences officials favor that conference. On the other hand had you complained that our officials were incompetent or that they sucked...........then you would receive universal agreement.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

On my first look, I'm thinking penalty shot.
I watched the video about 5 more times... still think there should have been a penalty shot.
The BU player was on a clear breakaway, uncontested. Hauled down from behind, impeding his shot on goal. That's a penalty shot 999 times out of 1000. I would have said 1000 out of 1000, until I saw this video. ;)

No dog in this fight. Just calling 'em as I see 'em.

Here we go with the "Come to North Dakota, we will beat you" talk. Yeah bud lets talk "aboot" it. Honestly the sad thing is, is that you are the super derpy fan that goes to all the hockey games alone and cheer alone and leave alone. But when someone asks you aboot it, you say, "no I like going alone I really get to pay attention to the game." Bud go suck on your dads mediocre sized d-i-c-k just like UNDs success over the past 10 years.

Hahaha holy man kid you have some anger issues!

I have trouble seeing a penalty shot out of that. Oksanen never had great control of the puck and the chance didn't get off in part because of that, thus negating the chance taken away by the penalty metric of the penalty shot. Minor penalty and that's it in my book. Calling nothing was atrocious.

Yale got hosed at PVD on some third period makeup calls recently ,unfortunately it should be expected. Conversely, the BU Coach had no issue with the fiver that basically cost them the game on Friday against Yale. He also called Lyon the best goalie in the country, so he is aces in my book!

Ranked at #3 this week is a gift. More importantly, of course, is remaining 1st in the pairwise. Hopefully any nagging injuries, bumps, and bruises will heal over the holiday break and they can come out and play like they did to start the season. Lot's of hockey left, most of it league play so every game matters.

Meltdown.

BU fans were class. Rough exit of the parking garage gives QU fans a quick trigger finger when it comes to leaving.

Clifton play looked like a usually innocuous push that happens all over the ice and was hardly those reckless, minor-warranting shoves close to the boards. Unfortunate more than malicious, no call for me. Hope the kid is okay.

LTsatch- Whatever you do, don't watch a Bruins game on NESN. Your head might explode from the lack of OBJECTIVITY in a local broadcast.

That wait in the garage was worse than the traffic getting out of the garages at the UConn basketball game earlier in the day, with 2-3 times more people leaving at once on small country roads. Beautiful arena and setup on the hill there, but absurdly stupid traffic patterns.

Yeah if you get stuck parking in the garage it can take a decent amount of time to get out.

And what was with all the Quinnipiac fans leaving with four minutes left to go?

We left with 2+ minutes left. Mainly because I have bad luck and if I left early QU would be sure to mount a comeback in the last 2 minutes and I would miss it. I was trying to do them a favor :)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

Hearing about what the teams expectations are and the maturity from them in the loss is a great place to be as a team. These kids will bounce back.
Their character off the ice will determine their success. We all need to realize that Saturday was the 1st loss in a stretch of 18 games. It's not the end of the season by a long shot. Anas is spot on when he says "we gotta make sure we stay in shape over break". It's all about the big picture and as I said, the character of this team will prevail.

I can think of a whole bunch of teams that would love to be in our skates going into the 2nd half... ;)

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 2015-16 - Another journey begins...

The whole ECAC vs Hockey East refs is simple. Each have different bosses who stress different things. The biggest problem in college hockey is the varying calls. In CT you don't see interference calls, in other parts it's the go to call. Anyone who goes to a HE refereed game will be shocked by ECAC refs and vice versa.

Actually I gave the announcers mild props, I was just asking about the production. Seeing as the game was on SNY, I guess I was expecting something more neutral. I also apologize about missing the one interview with the BU player, I did catch the interview with the Women's Field Hockey Coach though. I guess it was QU's sandbox and they are allowed to play in it as they want. Most home broadcasts have "homer" announcers, it's to be expected.

It's all good LT, and much, much better than that broadcast of Yale-QU done by ASN. Talk about a hack job, at least the studio show. Tom Caron did ok with the play-by-play but ASN won't be around long if they don't address that studio pair.
