Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

This is a season I will never forget. Mark, thanks for everything over the last couple of years. It makes me so happy to know that people in Hamden really do care about this team.

I can finally say that I am proud to be a Bobcat.

See y'all in October.

QU Bobcats,

Words cannot express our gratitude to our students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and fans who have been so supportive of our Men's Ice Hockey Team and all our teams and programs.

Tonight's NCAA Frozen Four Championship game was a "small bump on a perfect ride".

The past few weeks, Quinnipiac has shown the world what a very special university we have.

We are very, very grateful to all that have worn a gold t-shirt, travelled to a game, watched a game, listened to a game this past season.

Our fans are as good as our teams!

Go Bobcats!

Jack McDonald

Thanks Jack! Hopefully this is only the beginning of many years of hockey success but this will always be the most memorable. What an incredible run and experience. Thank you for all the memories! Looking forward to this only being the beginning.

Also, Seeing Rand walk the line congratulating each of his players was a moment I'll never forgot.

No, thank you, Jack.

It was a great thrill to follow this team, and made all the more special because of the quality people that work at Quinnipiac. I had the privilege to get to know many of them in my time there, and I can say without reservation the quality of the people at Quinnipiac make me a bigger Bobcats fan.

I can't wait to see where this program goes from here. I love that line from Jack. A small bump on a perfect ride. Amen. We're just getting started.

Today was disappointing, and I've had better days as a Bobcats fan, but there's never a bad day to be a Bobcat.

Mark, I said it yesterday, and I meant it. You beat us 3 out of 4. You outscored us 13-7. Life just ain't fair sometimes. Hamden and New Haven staged a little war for the rest of the country, and I suspect there are more to come. I'm thrilled to take the win, but I know how close even a 4-0 game can go the other way. Great season.

Not only that, Quinnipiac was 15-1-0 against Top 20 teams this season -- the one loss came in the national championship game.

Hockey's stupid sometimes.

But that was the analysis going into it -- if Malcolm outplays Hartzell, Yale's going to win. Malcolm had the game of a lifetime tonight. Hockey happens, sometimes.

Being my ever-optimistic self, I'll repeat the old adage: to win a championship you first have to lose one. Well, we lost 2 championships this season so the monkey's off our back, right? ;)

We lost two national championship games ('83 to Wisconsin led by Chris Chelios and '86 when we lost Scott Fusco in the semis to a knee injury. Had Scotty played against Michigan State the next night, we would have won. I'm sure of it). Yale didn't have the experience prior to last night. They just got white hot at the right time and got fabulous goaltending from Malcolm. You're graduating 11 players. Doubtful that you'll be back next season. It's really hard to go back to back - just ask BC. What you have built is the expectation that it's Frozen Four or bust. That level of expectation can be carried forward to future classes and eventually, you'll get there.

Monkey off your back? You were hanging out with monkeys all year? Just monkeying around until you could go bananas in the playoffs? Now cut it out, ya big ape!

In all candor MEUSA, it's brutal trying to beat the same team four times in one season. A snippet of hockey history. Our lads here in Denver won back-to-back titles in 2003-2004 and 2004-2005.

In the 2003-2004 season North Dakota and Denver played four times in the regular season. The Hostile and Abusives won the first three games: 8-2, 6-2 and 6-1. The fourth regular season game ended in a 1-1 tie. The teams met a fifth time in the second round of the NCAA tourney with a bid to the Frozen Four on the line. Luke Fulghum scored for the Pioneers with two and a half minutes to play in the third period and Denver won the game 1-0. In the Frozen Four, Denver beat Duluth 5-3 [on the strength of 4 third period goals] before beating Maine 1-0 for the NCAA title. The point being: go ask North Dakota how difficult it is to beat a team four times in one season.

Denver only beat the Sioux once in five tries that season, but it was the game of greatest importance between the teams. And so it was last night with QU and Yale. The season ended on a disappointing note, but the Bobcats had a sterling run from start to finish. It will be hard for QU to "sneak up" on anybody heading into the future. The Bobcats will be solid for many years to come.;)

Home from Pittsburgh with plenty of memories from a solid, awe-inspiring season of following the Bobcats. The loss last night, while painful, does not diminish anything this team accomplished. The 21-game unbeaten streak, #1 in the polls, #1 in the PairWise, a regular season sweep of our biggest rivals, the ECAC regular season title, the 2 biggest game-winning goals in program history by Kevin Bui, a 10-spot hung on Cornell in the quarters, a fantastic come-back against Canisius in Providence, a Hobey Hat-Trick finalist named Hartzell, and a visit to the Frozen Four with a shot at the title. This team was special, and extremely fun to watch.

I'd like to thank the seniors for giving us 4 solid years and for bringing this program to the pinnacle. We've had other senior classes that were labeled the best, but this one IS the best. Their leadership and experience were evident all season long. The underclassmen are better for having played with these guys, and that will carry forward into next season for sure.

I'd also like to thank the many people I've met as a result of Bobcats hockey for being some of the best, most ardent fans I've ever seen. Many of you post here and know who you are. There are many others that I only interact with at the rink. Each and every one of you have made my experience as a Bobcat fan better and more enjoyable. I truly think we all wanted a win last night as much for the team and the school as we did for each other. That's how dedicated we've become.

It was a special season indeed, and hopefully the first of many more to come.

Is it October yet?

Congrats on a great season. It was a pleasure to watch Quinnipiac skate.
