Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

I don't think so... if it starts to get out of hand, we'll just beat you senseless and leave you on the curb wearing a Bud Fisher jersey. :p

Fair enough. My alumni crew has had such bad luck the last few years, we're all a little terrified.

And, let me guess, no TV again for the conference finals?

Well, at least that's something.

And, I have to ask... when will college sports departments/leagues come to the realization that no one is paying $9/game to watch a college hockey game? Quinnipiac, Yale, the Northeast Conference, RPI all have it right -- it's probably a better promotion for your product to give it for free -- I have been much more interested in QU basketball this season, and that's partially because I was able to tune in whenever I wanted to.

And, that interest turned into attending two games this season, the most of any year since I've graduated.

It took several years and a lot of complaining before RPI dumped their contract with America One, even after RPITV had demonstrated the ability to produce a superior product and distribute it without charging. These companies offer the institutions a way to get the game online at no cost to themselves and possibly make a few bucks doing so, with very minimal effort required to get up and running. If a school doesn't have the resources or dedicated student groups to put together a production like QU, Yale, or RPI do then it's very easy to just run with the easy solution and set up a handycam at center ice to get the game online.

Not saying it's a good solution, but it's an easy solution and I think in a lot of cases that wins out.

I saw an interesting sight two weeks ago, four Yale hockey fans watching the Quinnipiac basketball game on a laptop, at a bar in Princeton. THAT is what the new technology is doing to sports. Ten years ago they would have had to call someone who actually attended the game for an update.

Setting up a handicam is fine. Charging for it is where I stop. Last season, I never made it up to Hamden, and never paid the fee to watch the games. This year, I've been tuning in every home weekend because it's free. Making it free is what I think is so helpful to promote the product.

Looks like the Big Red will be visiting Hamden next weekend for a best-of-3 quarterfinal series with the Bobcats.

Saturdays game will be televised on NESN. Hopefully the TV timeouts don't become a distraction.

I'll be at the Bank for game 2. Cornell is a tough draw but better to have them at home than to travel to Lynah. Wonder how many Cornell fans will be in the house next weekend.

Being that the Friday and Saturday games are either sold out or SRO, that limits the number of tickets available to the visitors. I'm sure they'll still travel well but the home crowd will have to take care of the atmosphere.

Yup hopefully some students will come back early as that is the tail end of Spring Break.

Mark, I am not sure how you get your ticket info at QU, but there must be an ECAC rule that at least a certain number of tickets are retained by the league for the visiting school. If you are looking at the online availability, it may be just the tickets that are available after the visiting school allotments. It is my belief that if cornell does not sell their allotment, then they will be released by a certain date this week.

There is nothing available for either Game 1 or 2 via QuinnipiacBobcats.com. Cornell probably gets a small allotment of tickets. Also have to see if Quinnipiac's student tickets are going to go quickly.
