Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Watching the highlights... what a pass to set up the winner.
I don't think it shows on the video but I clearly remember that pass getting tipped by at least one, and maybe both of the Cornell defenders that were between Barron and Bui. Bui's acceleration to the net is simply amazing, and the way he undresses Iles is a thing of beauty.

This video is just of Bui's game winner:

And this is another awesome view:

Why is Quinnipiac ranked second in this week's uscho.com poll if they received 27 first place votes to Minnesota's 22 first place votes?

It is not just about first place votes, the poll works on a point system, with 20 points awarded to the first place team on a ballot, 19 to the second place team, and so on. The rankings are then adjusted based on overall points from the votes, not number of first place votes.

Go Bobcats!

A win Friday night would tie the program record for wins of 27 by the 1999-2000 squad and an ECAC Championship would set the program record for wins in a season.

WTNH's story (linked here: http://www.wtnh.com/dpp/sports/quinnipiac-heads-to-ecac-semifinals-after-double-ot-win#.UUijrl3Hf9o) has much better quality video of the goal.

We'll be talking about "THE Goal" for years to come! ;)

Hey, you student types (looking at you Larson and Schvatz), what's the buzz on campus? Are many planning to make the trip to AC Friday? It would be sweet to see Boardwalk Hall full of blue and gold!

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats '12-'13 Post Season - The view from the top...

Very weird to have five more first-place votes but be 10 points behind Minnesota. What that means is someone basically biased the poll by putting us 10th, or something. Which is ridiculous.

My guess is its probably not so much one voter dropping Q down to 10th to purposely skew the poll as it is all the same people who voted Q #1, had UMn #2, while those who voted UMn #1, didn't all put Q #2, some probably had them at #3 or #4 or #5?

Just a few weeks ago I saw that CBSsports Eye on Hockey has their chk Power Poll and they had Q down in 9th place. Well, they've since risen to #2 I believe?!

Some people out there just don't have a clue. They don't actually look at the scedules or the rankings or any of that. From what I can tell Q has an incredible win loss record vs the Top 20-25 rated teams in the country. A few too many bad losses, but I believe those were early in the season. So if I put out my own poll, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to have Q at least #2, and I'm a Gopher fan so of course that's the highest they could go, right?! lol

Some Michigan fan made some comment about how unlikely it was that Q was going to make the FF, and I had to laugh, a frigging Michigan fan, a team that isn't even going to be in the tournament most likely?!

What I know is I've seen Bemidji St, Ferris St. RIT, Miami, Vermont, Notre Dame and Union all in the Frozen Four in just the last 4 years, with UM-Duluth winning the Title as well. That's 50% of the FF field for those 4 years. NONE of those programs are programs who've historically had tons of success. Yet that didn't stop them.

This year we have already seen St Cloud St Univ, Mass-Lowell and of course Quinipiac win Regular Season Titles. What in the last 4 years has shown that one of those 3 teams can't make it to the Frozen Four and maybe even win the Title?

Well, whatever, I am happy the Gopher's got at least 1 of the two polls to put us at #1, but it doesn't bother me at all that Q got the other #1 ranking. They deserve it. I look forward to hopefully meeting up with some of you Q fans in the thread they make for our teams Title game matchup. Until then.

That's what I meant. I didn't mean it was negatively or purposely done, I just meant that one person putting QU 10th would serve to basically skew the results.

Well I guess its possible. That CBSsports guy had em in 9th place for some reason? So 1 or 2 voters with the same mentality could really throw things off I guess. I guess I only balked at the idea that they did it on purpose. But doing it out of ignorance/stupidity is a whole nother issue, lol. THAT I would believe in a heartbeat.

Well, no matter, I think Q's guaranteed to finish #1 in the PWR, and that is all that matters when it all comes down to it. And I'm fine with UMn not being #1 as long as we get the #2 or #3 seed so we don't have to find out if Q's legit or not until the Title game.

There are about three cars of our pals that are headin' down. A couple of us are working for the media so we won't be in blue and gold. I've talked to quite a few kids who say they wish they could go, but just aren't sure if they have a car full to take. If QU wins on Friday, I think there is going to be quite a few on Saturday.

The campus was buzzing on Monday. Everyone was talking about the game. It was AWESOME!

This is the one where they finally bury Brown.

Not even blue and gold in the tie? ;)

Beat Brown. That is all.

I'm usually pessimistic (as some of you know) and knew going in that Cornell would probably take QU to the limit on Sunday, but I've got a feeling that QU is gonna role Brown on Friday.

Jerry Garcia or bust when it comes to ties (and music). Also, I'm a huge fan of the classic white shirt and black tie.

Appropriate you work where you do, what with the banker's suit and all... ;)

Heard lot's of rumors over the weekend that there might be buses to AC... anyone else hear anything? I'm guessing not based on the above.

I have a glorious pink tie I broke out for Game 3 vs Cornell, so that might have to make the trip down. Conversely, I had worn lucky bright orange and yellow bowling shoes for good luck to the Women's NEC Championship game before hand, and wore those through the first two periods vs Cornell. It worked for basketball, not so much for hockey. Had a hunch to take them off after QU was trailing 2-1 during the second intermission and put regular dress shoes on. The rest is history. Needless to say, those bowling shoes will not be heading down I-95 with us. :D

As for students, like Larson said, we have a pretty solid caravan of our group heading down (3 full cars worth). There are a lot of people who I have talked to that want to go, just the distance and price makes it difficult. Additionally, QU Athletics is not providing a bus like they sometimes do, so students have to take it upon themselves to get down to AC. However, they did just send out a mass email about the student ticket options at Boardwalk, so maybe that will get some students on the fence to head down.
