Questions about "Race"

Re: Questions about "Race"

Is it the NFL recap show?

The Amazing Race. If you are white, it's white people who are amazing, if you are brown, it's brown people who are amazing....why, goodness me, everyone is Amazing! All Races are amazing, each in their own way!

Why....um, what's that you say? it's a different kind of "race"? oh, never mind.

Re: Questions about "Race"

That small grain you eat with other foods.

Well since it's a plant I guess it's biological.

I guess so since they all cook it differently. The brown people like it with curry, and the people with the thin eyes like it with sweet and sour pork.

I usually cook it in a pot with some water until it's soft.

I hope it's real, otherwise I'd be ****ed to spend all of that time boiling a myth.
Ohhhh, I get it. I thought he was asking about retired wide receiver Jerry Race.

Re: Questions about "Race"

1) How do you define 'race'?
When I think of race, I typically think of the ponies
2) Do you think 'race' is biological or social/cultural? Why?
Well, horses and jockeys are biological creatures. But when you look at something like the Kentucky Derby it's certainly a social/cultural thing.

3) Do you classify 'race' based on people's physical appearance?
Tiny people make better jockeys. I often bet on horses based on their appearance, but never the jockey's appearance.

4) How do you classify your own race?
Being a Marylander, I think of the Preakness as my race

5) Do you agree with this sentence: "Race is a myth; there is no such thing." Explain.
I've seen plenty of races, won and lost money, but then again maybe everything in life is a myth. *mind blown*

Re: Questions about "Race"

I wonder, could answers like these be racist without being racist?

Who could afford ponies nowadays without being rich?

Have you seen the price of hay right now?? it was a **** poor summer for growing hay this year, and there's going to be a lot of places that are going to be running short on hay. I've even heard of a few cattle and dairy farmers out there that have been out buying up straw just so they've got something they can mix in with their feed to help keep the cow's bellies full. Cows can hack straw, but they're not going to go out of their way to eat it. Horses can't, and you're paying thru the nose this winter for hay.

Ladies and gents, allow me to present to you the return of vrybddog.

Re: Questions about "Race"

I've heard it asserted with a completely straight face that minorities cannot be "racist" merely because they are minority! that only the "majority" can be racist.

Well, women outnumber men yet there are plenty of (completely valid) incidents of sexism.

It seems to me that there is more racial prejudice these days from people who accuse others of racism than there actually is racism overall. there is a large professional class highly invested in finding racism wherever they look, because their continued employment depends upon fighting racism. How can they possibly say, "okay, we've done our jobs so well, racism isn't a problem any more." ?? They will always find some, even if they have to invent it.

You're not the only one. In fact, the person I heard this from also said that all of the majority is automatically racist.

Freshfish: You wouldn't be speaking of the Good Reverend Al and his sidekick Jesse? Keeping their constituents in place to maintain their own agenda and gains?

Nah! Something like that could never happen in today's America!
