Question of the Day

Can’t believe it’s been almost three months since I’ve asked a question. Let’s rectify that!

How many of you are on LinkedIn? How do you use it?

I think I have a profile on there that's almost old enough to drive, but haven't touched it in at least a decade since I'm a deep state government bureaucrat who likes the government employee lifestyle and pension and don't need to worry about being head hunted.

I was suspicious. You seem to know too much. Where do you buy your pizza?

I've been on LinkedIn for 22 years. All it has gotten me is once or twice a month a bot-generated headhunter email for a job description that hasn't fit me in... 21 years.

I've been on it since 2010 or so. I keep my profile updated, but I only login a couple times a month, or on the rare occasion I get a headhunter "InMail" that's actually worth responding to.

I’m on it a lot for work. I’m also trying to get a new job and break into a more environmental/sustainability career so I’ll have to be on it even more

I think I figured out the problem for you. According to wikipedia, LinkedIn was only founded 18 years ago.

I am very happy for you that you finally found a way to drive in your knife.

It's not often one gets to see a man's greatest wish in life granted.

Ivies don't need LinkedIn, they have private clubs in the major cities for that sort of networking where they can get together and huff their own farts.

He was obviously on the secret one for the ivies before the rest of us plebs were allowed to join...

Can't have a Nelson without Nelson's Weasels.

Looks like there's been a whole fan club out there who have been quivering in anticipation for 22, or 18, years.

This is indeed a red letter day. Hey, least you know you're not on Ignore!

What is a Biography?

A biography, also called a bio, is a non-fiction piece of work giving an objective account of a person’s life. The main difference between a biography vs. an autobiography is that the author of a biography is not the subject.

Biographies include details of key events that shaped the subject’s life, and information about their birthplace, education, work, and relationships. Biographers use a number of research sources, including interviews, letters, diaries, photographs, essays, reference books, and newspapers. While a biography is usually in the written form, it can be produced in other formats such as music composition or film.

Examples of famous biographies include:
  • His Excellency: George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis
  • Einstein: The Life and Times by Ronald William Clark
  • Princess Diana – A Biography of The Princess of Wales by Drew L. Crichton

    What is an Autobiography?

An autobiography is the story of a person’s life written by that person. Because the author is also the main character of the story, autobiographies are written in the first person.

The purpose of an autobiography is to portray the life experiences and achievements of the author. Therefore, most autobiographies are written later in the subject’s life.

They often begin during early childhood and chronologically detail key events throughout their life. Autobiographies usually include information about where a person was born and brought up, their education, career, life experiences, the challenges they faced, and their key achievements.
