Women's Hockey Holds End Of Year Banquet
The Friars announced their seven team awards and honored their six graduating seniors.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's hockey team held its annual year end banquet today (April 25) at Schneider Arena. The team honored its six graduating seniors and announced its seven team awards.
Graduate student Stephanie Demars (Vermontville, N.Y.) and seniors Brooke Simpson (Boxborough, Mass.), Suzie Lundeen (Minneapolis, Minn.), Haley Frade (Marion, Mass.) Allison Micheletti (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) and Beth Hanrahan (Poolesville, Md.) were recognized for their contributions to the program.
Following the senior presentations, was the announcing of their seven team awards: Academic Award, Captain's Award, Unsung Hero, Seventh Player Award, Most Improved Player, Coaches' Award and the team's Most Valuable Player.
The team's Academic Award was presented to the player with the highest cumulative grade point average from the spring semester of 2014 through the fall semester of the 2014 academic year. Frade and junior Sarah Bryant (Bethlehem, Pa.) shared the honor after they both posted a 3.74 GPA. Frade is a double major in Management and Finance, while Bryant is a Biology major.
The team's Captain's Award went to Hanrahan. The forward played in every game of her career at 143, and is tied for first all-time at Providence in games played, while serving as the team captain this past year. Hanrahan was recognized as Player of the Week and earned the Hockey East Sportsmanship Award during her senior campaign. During this past season, she notched two game-winning tallies and had eight multi-point games. She recorded a career-high in assists with three against UConn on Nov. 9. Hanrahan also tallied three two-goal games during the season.
Junior Lexi Romanchuk (San Jose, Calif.) was named the Friars' Unsung Hero after she played in all 35 games during the 2014-15 season as an assistant captain. She tied for the team-lead in defensive scoring on the year with two goals and seven assists. The defender also led the team in blocked shots with 44. She tied a career-high in assists twice, registering two against Vermont on Feb. 1 and again versus Vermont on Feb. 21.
The Seventh Player Award went to junior Allie Morse (Cottage Grove, Minn.) who enjoyed a breakout season in net for the Friars, tallying a career-high 725 saves in 29 games played. She recorded seven games with 30 or more saves and two games of 40-plus saves. Morse earned Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week and four conference Top Performer honors throughout the season.
The team's Most Improved Player was sophomore defender Lauren Klein (Shoreview, Minn.), who played in 28 games and closed out the season strong with a goal and an assist in back-to-back games.
Frade earned the team's Coaches Award after collecting a team-high 16 assists in the 2014-15 season. Of her 25 points, 15 came in league play. She ended the year ranked second on the team in overall scoring, with nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points. The forward played in every game of her career (143), tying for first all-time at Providence with the feat. Frade also was named Hockey East Top Performer twice. She ended the year with seven multi-point games and scored in three-straight games over the course of the season.
The last award of the day went to Hanrahan as the team's Most Valuable Player. She led the team in scoring with 26 points on both career-highs in goals (15), and assists (11). The forward played in every game of her career (143), tying for first all-time at Providence with the accomplishment. Hanrahan was recognized as Hockey East Player of the Week and earned the Hockey East Sportsmanship Award during her senior campaign. During her senior season, Hanrahan notched two game-winning tallies and had eight multi-point games. She set a career-high in assists with three against UConn on Nov. 9. The honoree also tallied three two-goal games during the season.
