I thought the problem last night was they had hands of stone. They mishandled almost every pass which meant many missed opportunities. Now certainly UNH's play had something to do with it

On point one. I thought the same thing. But it is a matter of how a coach likes to play it. Army did pull the goalie in that situation, in fact often earlier

Rooney. Bottom line he is not a goal scorer, but a defensive player. He is not a top 6 forward, gets little pp time as he is not on the first 2 units. His line is always matched vs the other teams top line which limits offense. He also is our prime pk unit and this team is not as disciplined as the past couple. Also in past years he has been teamed up with players like Acciari, Tanev and Brown. Now maybe you might expect him to ease Gamez's transition. As far as scoring goals if you extrapolate last year his best year he is down a couple.

Mingoia is just 4 points less than last year he should get those and have his best year. He is a bit streaky, but that is who he is

You don't mention Janko or Tanev who are having their best seasons.

The defense is a bit harder to evaluate. But even you noted the system works and was why Gillies was great and Ellis has done almost as well. Parisi is on pace to match last years offense. Last year I think his primary role was defense quite a bit being paired with the offensive Florentino. This year he has played a more balanced role paired with Gillmour. Gilmour was having his best year this year benefitting from the pairing. His trouble has been injuries, and he never came back from last night's injury

McParland who you don't mention either may be slightly behind in goals for year but he still might have his best year in points and like Rooney covering the opponents top line

I know you are not, but anyone dumping on this years team is a fool. Fool.
They have been top 3-5 all year and have handled the hangover and transition year very well. It's hockey and not tennis and teams lose to less talented teams every day of the week, just look at the NHL.

Some of the PC fans act like every night is a tennis match and the favorite never loses. Guess what, they do.

This team will be tough to play come tournament time and I can guarantee you no one will want them in their bracket

You are right here. Ellis is on pace to get more time then Gillies. Right now only Peterson has played more minutes. As far as Hawkey is concerned and what you noted. Hawkey suffered a major injury (actually 2 injuries to his knee) 14 months ago. Right about now would be the time someone would recover from that injuries and really begin to feel comfortable. There are clearly a couple of games coming up which would be ideal to get his feet wet

I also would play him because I would wonder if Ellis would parlay his success and go pro. It would be selling high because next year is a rebuilding year to an extent. Also Leaman has not recruited his replacement, maybe because he does not know when the money will be available. I think you would like to see Hawkey a bit more before handing him the job.

Actually she wouldn't
She shows up and by doing that earns 98% of her wins, which can't happen in hockey. Hockey can have a couple small fluke plays and that's the difference. Players like Serena can have 67 unforced errors and win in straight sets
She is perfect example. Has won prob 98% of matches last 5 years and if she loses one its a fluke

This team is only one win ahead of last year's team and about a .500 team since the end of the first semester. It is going to be interesting to see if they can round up the team and get it together to get a bye in the Hockey East tourney. Last night's loss puts them behind the eight ball for a chance to win the conference as that was a game in hand on the teams ahead and behind them.

My 2 cents. PC and UNH both didn't play well on Friday. It was a fairly boring hockey game. I'll take the win and hope the team recognizes its poor play and rebounds with a better effort next time out. Didn't work out that way. On Saturday. UNH came out much more energized and played much sharper, especially the first line, and the goalie was solid on both nights. PC played real lethargic for the first two periods.

Compared to prior to the winter break, the team's play has declined. Didn't see the Florida games, but saw the loss at Brown , watched the games at VT, and saw all the home games since. They're certainly not peaking in the second half of the season. Last year's team was playing better at this time of the year.

Without Acciari, the Friars lack the physicality of last year's team. Hope Nate can figure out how to light a fire under these guys and gets it straightened out before too long.

I agree 100 percent of this comment...the game on Friday was one of the worst D-1 games I have seen in years with missed passes and terrible play

actually she lost the last two grand slams to highly inferior players. Game ,set and match so to speak

I haven't posted here in a long time, but this made me laugh out loud!!! I was thinking the same thing when this came out today. For Exlax to bag on The 4 that he did was comical. You were doing so well when they went undefeated for the first half of the year. But you just needed a rough patch to start throwing some guys under the bus! If you really are a Friars fan you should count your blessings, without them, NO championship! Wish Mingoia never left Union. Who's next Exlax? If nothing else, you are funny😀

My point stands...he is inconsistent. Teams don't come into PC and say we got to shut down Mingola. A guy who went 16 games played and 18 overall with a total of one goal!

BTW, Rooney is so great on defense (rolls eyes), he is even on the year which is second worse on the team for everyday players behind Lemos. He only has ten blocked shots on the year. Jankowski has 15 and we all know Jankowski is no defensive shutdown guy. Rooney was paired up with UNH's top line and was on the ice for both of their goals. I just think if you aren't getting Rooney to shut down a team or score, why play him?

I think we need to really look at what is going in with the recruiting...PC lost another recruit on Wednesday and by my count is at least the third one since the start of the season.

Borek is a much different person in the recruiting trail and wasn't too successful near the end of his unh career but did bring in talent early to Durham like JVR.
