Providence College on the road to Chicago

I have no issue with the scheduling. Last time it was in Providence the games were Saturday and Sunday. To be able to cram four games into roughly seven hours is no easy thing. Having the multiple ESPN channels to air the games on helps some of that. Skipping going to the games this year to stay in and watch everything instead.

Plus you can watch ESPN3 if you aren't interested in the game on

Re: Providence College on the road to Chicago

But that's the point. They stagger the games because otherwise, as was the case a few years ago, there won't be enough channels to simultaneously put them on. Remember (I keep saying this but people don't get it), hockey is at the BOTTOM of the totem pole. They have lacrosse, women's basketball, track and field. If you have four semi-finals at the same time, you're only going to have two on TV and then the fans of the other four teams will be SCREAMING. It's not about ratings (the ratings probably don't even register), it's about capacity.

Not sure where you live, but travel someplace away from the "hotbed" college hockey areas during the NCAA playoffs (when men's and women's basketball, water polo, lacrosse is on). Go into a bar and ask them to put on the "college hockey game." They'll look at you like you have six heads and then ignore you.

With my suggested setup or the way it is now, if you still want to watch most of the games you will have to multi view somehow. Nobody is watching the day games on Friday anyway, evryone except the tourney teams fans are still at work.

Re: Providence College on the road to Chicago

Screw this argument. I will not rest until all NCAA games take place in Providence at 3AM simultaneously. ;)

Re: Providence College on the road to Chicago

And there we go. Not even ONE HOUR into the broadcasts and we get this: "Harvard and Providence will start over on ESPN News because of lacrosse..."

And to make matters worse, my television subscription includes ESPNU but not ESPN News, so when I try to watch the game online via the Watch ESPN app, I get the "you are not subscribed to this channel" error. Just wonderful.

Re: Providence College on the road to Chicago

Can you imagine having 27 on the ice at the end with Florentino and Walman on bench. What a joke. Empty net goal was like a favor to Harvard

Re: Providence College on the road to Chicago

Disappointing ending, but plenty to look forward to.

Re: Providence College on the road to Chicago

One of the worst games PC played this year. Hawkey played well but had little help. Lack of team intensity was dissapointing. Very little checking done by the Friars, they didn't do much after the good start of the game, which lasted about 6 minutes

Some times you have to give the other team credit.....they were the best TEAM on the ice and they won.......PC does have a very good foundation to build on for next year

You guys gave us all we could handle for two periods. I really think the offsides that nullified the goal in the first period took some of the wind out of your sails. You guys got jobbed on that call and I'm a Harvard fan. No question. You could see it on the replay.

Been saying it all year Monk has been absolute trash and finally one of Leaman's puppets showed his true colors.

They had a great defensive foundation heading into this season and that blew up in Leaman's face. The senior defensemen especially Monk were disasters. Walman regressed from 2015-2016 while Florentino continued to be yo-yo in and out of the lineup. McKenzie played a majority of the season with a traffic cone in Vincent. So maybe Nate can actually get improvement from his upperclassmen instead of regression which is becoming a common occurrence.

Next year will be season number 3 since they won the title and I failed to see any improvement in the recruiting which has actually gotten worse since the National Championship.

Western Michigan started on their top D a freshmen who originally committed to Providence. Maybe he would have helped.

I hold my team to high standards and we are meh, you good sir are on another level. Providence is being formed into a national power, I just have to ask, if Leaman leaves by some miracle in the near future would you be happy?

He's not a PC fan. He's a Leaman hater. He would be thrilled if Leaman left.
