Re: Providence - 2009-10 What is in the glass?
2 wins in the last 13 games.
Watched it on Cox tonight too. When you start counting the fans in the stands you know it's bad. Outshot 43-27, this team looks utterly, completely deflated. Power play was embarrassing.
I was more shocked by the commentary though. Bellemore must be taking a page out of the Keno Davis playbook, blaming the lack of offensive talent for all the team's woes. I think at one point he said it couldn't be coached, and that "it's either there or it isn't." That may be true to some extent -- but who recruited these kids here, Bob? How about completing the sentence instead of just throwing the players under the bus? I realize they're still trying (laughably) to pump Army up with those hilarious "the buck stops here" ads, but it's a disservice to these players claiming that the problems begin and end with them. Even if they have no talent at all, they shouldn't look so utterly clueless on a 5-on-3. In fact they looked afraid to make a mistake -- which all goes back to the guy who brought them here.
What's more -- who do they think they're fooling? Army's record is EMBARRASSING. It's awful. Look at every year under Army and the same pattern is there. The last two seasons...listen I apologize for going on, but it's jaw dropping the ineptitude of his record. It's pathetic.
As always the only one who seems to get it is Mike Logan, who went through the numbers and did a great job adding a dose of reality, basically showing anyone who still doesn't recognize (Hokydad?) this team is on the fast track to Nowheresville. He also had a great stat tonight as well -- PC has 1 road win in Hockey East this season. ONE **** ROAD WIN in the conference!
The only way this situation gets worse is if Army stays on another year or two and PC makes a small, incremental step to 7th or 8th place. Then, because he's been so godawful, he (and Hokydad) can claim the "team is moving in the right direction" and they'll extend his contract until 2028.
Don't think that won't happen either...
