Re: Professional Wrestling Thread: Sign It Before The Stock Plummets Some More

Night of Champions can be summed up in one word: frustraiting. The tag match to open had great action but the finish was terrible. IC match was forgettable. Some good action in US match but predictable WWE finish. WHC match saw coming with the results of the previous matches. Divas match forgettable, (spoiler)at least have the champion who is retaining be able to run the ropes correctly.(/spoiler) WWE title yet again saw coming. Then the main event match was nicely paced and entertaining until the 7 min ending. I was excited for this match and to see it had top billing reminded me of indy PPVs, like the one ROH had the night before. Four different storylines now stem from that last match, can of worms WWE, can of worms. If I can now 8 of the 10 participants in the Survivor Series match I'm going to be furious. This PPV let me down but then again I already expected that.

Or at least (spoiler)don't job out the challenger wrestling in their hometown.(/spoiler)

Paul Heyman said that Punk came off strong in the finish. 3 Pedigrees and a Jackknife was needed to beat him. He said in his comments to wait for RAW before judgments are made.

Re: Professional Wrestling Thread: Sign It Before The Stock Plummets Some More

There's a new video on Matt Hardy's YouTube account where he states he's going to WWE sponsored rehab. Good luck, Matt. At least you are admitting that you have a problem.

Is it just me or does anyone else smell the rebirth of the NWO now that Nash, Truth, Miz have been "fired"

I smell Cena and Punk teaming up to fight tConspiracy which will end up being some big group of all the people fired or just random guys who aren't getting their "shot." At which point Punk heel turns on Cena to reveal that he was behind it all along.

So another Nexus-esque angle

Please add Drew McIntyre to that faction of people not getting a shot. How can you waste the coolest theme in wrestling?

Kind of in that it's half the locker room.

They just can't pull off another NWO angle because there is no Hulk Hogan. Not literally him but someone who is that big. No Steve Austin, no Rock. Undertaker is basically on the way out and doesn't perform that often and he's been involved in that kind of thing before. The old guard is gone and no one has stepped up to fill in that void.

Thinking about that original run got me kind of nostalgic. I don't think there will ever be another moment like this because something like it happens every other week now.

You're wrong. There is someone that big and it would take most fans by surprise and might get a reaction to rival when Hogan did it. His name is John Cena and he's been a face for so long this could be just what is needed to make him truly interesting again.

Only if every Tom Dick and Harry is not allowed to join. I remember how cool that was when it started and then in a very short time the ring was full of idiots and morons. 3 guys was enough, and interesting. If it had stayed that way it might have been fun. Instead it got stupid very very very very fast.

*deep sigh* I don't think it can be done. It would alienate the Little Jimmy fanbase and the truckloads of merch they purchase. Only other guy who the kids go for is Mysterio, and he's almost history.

Although it would be freaking AMAZING to see. He's got the chops for such an angle, and would probably jump at the chance. Also, Cena and Punk work off each other so well it's scary.

Cena is nowhere as big as Hogan. (period) Cena turns heel and people would go "bout ****ing time let's see what else is on." The little kids in the audience would react but there wouldn't be a universal reaction.

Suggesting he do that kind of heel turn would be like pitching the next Rocky movie to have him as a villain.

That could be debated. I would take the Hogan side of it, but currently he is the biggest thing going.

Oh, and my boss' e-mail sound is the "anonymous Raw GM" sound. I'll never hear that sound again without immediately mouthing "MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE..." to myself.

/**** you, Michael Cole

Usually the WWE (unlike WCW, TNA) is good about closing storylines. I wonder why we never found out who that GM is/was?
