Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act ruled Unconstitutional

New Jersey will now be able to push ahead and start taking action within a couple of weeks.

Legal sports betting outside of Nevada is almost here, and likely will grow across the country at a fairly good clip.

it's additional revenue for the States. Wonder how they'll waste it? Hopefully it will go to roads and schools

New Jersey believes they will take $8 billion in bets annually. Crazy.

They may until the border states do the same and who is going to go to Atlantic City when you can go to NYC or Philly?

I hear ya. It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out. I know betting via mobile will be a huge piece to this as it evolves — saw Darren Rovell made a comment that DraftKings and FanDuel hit the jackpot this morning with their values increasing infinitely — a mobile app and database full of gamblers already ready to roll.

Just another way to transfer wealth from the poor to the rich. Betting revenue will now be used to subsidize low taxes on the wealthy. c.f., the lottery.

I think this will make sports much more sleazy and turn a lot of people off. Sports already has huge demographic problems and I think his will exacerbate it’s decline.

It'll go to Schneiderman's legal defense fund around here, most likely.

While those of us who can do math won't be affected.

Gotta say, stock market investment in a casino company was a really good choice.

Stock market and casino in the same sentence? Aren't those the same thing only different?

Not really, considering you're taking ownership (albeit typically a minuscule piece) in a company and sharing in its profits, over a turn of the card or a roll of the dice. With the casino games favored towards the house, and good economic times driving people to spend their excess money being entertained at these places, business is doing well. Those dividends were VERY plentiful. Plus, it goes with the old saying that the only way someone ever won at a casino was to own it.

Just remember, every time you want to buy a share of stock cause you think it is going up—- you need to find someone who wants to get rid of it and sell it to you because they think they can find better :)

Casino is different. But still gambling ;)

Only if you're flinging poo at a wall and hoping it'll stick. ;)

Some of us stick around for the long term and collect dividends, as I'm sure a number of MMM owners will chime in with. ;)
