Wow. The rare signing where the kid elects to finish school before reporting. Good on him.

No kidding. It's one thing to jump ship when you're an elite prospect, and will immediately start contributing at the NHL level, but not finishing and playing a few weeks in the AHL puzzles me sometimes, when a degree is so close.

They're allowed to make up work and finish once season is over. They don't give up their degree. Relax people.

This an emergency NHL appearance. If Mason is out any length of time, they will bring a goalie up from the AHL, likely Manny Lagace or Mark Dekanich, although that could give Hunwick a shot in the AHL.

Not so quick, Dekanich is out for the year w/injury & Legace is currently injured & not on an NHL contract.

Jason Zoooooooooooooker is playing tonight. I have DVR this game to see if he is ready for the prime time. Maybe you should talk to Shore and rent his posh house on Lake Minnetonka while he is away during the season.

Michigan State's sr. defenseman Brock Shelgren goes to ECHL Alaska Aces. The Chicago native has now bookended his college career with stints in Alaska. He played for Fairbanks (NAHL) before joining the Spartans.
