Princeton @ RPI Friday, February 25, 2011

Re: Princeton @ RPI Friday, February 25, 2011

Having watched the women get routed by Quinnipiac a few weeks ago - not just losing on the scoreboard but being badly outshot as the Bobcats carried the play - I expected the worst tonight. Instead, not only are they up 2-1 but the shots are relatively even (15-12 in favor of Cornell). It might not be as important as the semi-final upset a few years ago, but this would arguably be just as shocking if they can hold on to win on the road against an overwhelming #1 seed.

Re: 3-2 Princeton

If I were coach tomorrow: Sit: Kennedy, Helfrch, LeBeouf. I know it's next to impossible to sit two defenseman, but that's what I would do.

JFK has made some horrible decisions the past 3 weeks. I am not watching tonight so i cannot comment but he has not been the same player as earlier in the season.

Agreed. Cornell is a powerhouse, and one period is a long, long time against a team like that, but if they can win one here it would be great.

Third period tonight crucial-we needed to play our best tonight and so far we are putting out a friday performance. Princeton is a good team, but we are making them look even better. We have to come out and get one early-make this a game-so that tomorro will mean something.

Just back (driving is awful in cap district tonight) and Doc is right. Let's make the most of that 3rd period. Coach & folks are always talking about how resilient our team is... why not tonight in the 3rd period?

PS Shout out to the retiring Rick Hartt '70 (RPI Student Union)

Re: 3-1 Princeton

Cornell going on PP with about 13 minutes left. Smelker rang one off the post a few minutes back. The LiveStats feed shows a tremendous number of "blocked by team" on Cornell shots so it sounds like the ladies are playing tough team defense.

Now 5x3 for Cornell.

Update: Killed both penalties.

We're at our best when we're a ticked off team... fast, physical, getting after the puck. Down two in the third... first week bye on the line... are we ticked off yet?

Special teams let us down-a short hander given up and a power play goal given up. At Baker rink it was the other way around-our special teams won the game for us.

Women still "hanging on" to a 2-1 lead over Cornell with 4:41 left, but shots in the third period are 12-0 Cornell.
