Primelink shootout 2012

Re: Primelink shootout 2012

I'll bite - you want to take one of the most esteemed and successful tournaments in the nation, throw out one of the founding hosts and substitute their most "beloved" rival? "Platty fans might might not agree" Really?

Just to go one step more....

What if.....

Plattsburgh and Oswego always play a home and home every year....

Next year Plattsburgh hosts the Primelink....

Emery (more so then the other two coaches I've heard) was against playing a team 3 times in a year.....

So how do we fix it?

On a season Plattsburgh hosts the Primelink,

Game 1: Middlebury vs Norwich "The Game 1,124 or whatever"
Game 2: "The Rival" CONFERENCE MATCH UP Oswego @ Plattsburgh

When Oswego comes up for the "usual" North Country trip, they can play Potsdam and Canton? Or line up Utica with it? It would even free up another NC game for Plattsburgh to play Elmira again or Utica ect...

Oswego gets invited. Plattsburgh doesn't lose a HOME conference game against Oswego. The game will have a lot more importance for a tourney. And come on you get to see "The Game" and "The Rival" all on the same day.

Re: Primelink shootout 2012

I like the Prime Link just the way it is. It gives two more "out of" region games to see and gauge the competition between "them" and "us".

And as prof said.....DITTO

I like this idea, BUT would SUNYAC scheduling allow for a conference game to be played during a tournament?

Re: Primelink shootout 2012

Having Oswego in the Primelink is NOT going to happen. Now, St. Norbert or Adrian would be interesting indeed. But with $$ a little tight, I don't think you'll see that either because St. Norbert would want a reciprocal game, which is a legit request from them.

I saw St. Thomas and I can tell you that they will be around the top of the West rankings at year's end. They played two great teams tough and a bounce here or there, could've won one of them.

Agreed...I think it's cool to see a top tier team from the West come out to compete against three of the top from the East.

Re: Primelink shootout 2012

lets make it a 3 day tourny like we used to have when we were kids,6 teams play 2 games a day etc etc:eek::D

That would have the potential to be an efficient use of travel dollars - perhaps move it to winter break (it's already during a period when the students are likely away) over 4 days with day 3 off?

No changes are wanted or needed for this great DIII hockey tradition. Don't mess with success.
As a side note to the conference game suggestion - at some point early in the history of the Times-Argus (before it became the NSB) tournament, Norwich played St. Mikes in the first round as an ECAC East game (I think it was the first or second year that the SMC was in the ECAC East, and it was a way to get the travel partner game played back in the days of the interlock.) I think it happened just once that way.

Re: Primelink shootout 2012

The Cardinals could invite their travel partner , Potsdam, to the event. But, they were shown the door already!!
