Presidents Council says NO to DI/DIII combo weekend

Honey ... I'm early

Honey ... I'm early

Make it one week later and combine the men and women in one weekend. Men (Fri / Sat eve), Women (Thurs / Sat aft). 3 separate admissions.
Why not make it a combined event a week earlier in Placid? They've got 18 months to figure out how to condense/compress the already too long season by one week. Placid is - after all - the perfect venue for these events if you're not from Wisconsin, and the NESCAC purists / narcissists will love it.

Prof, "I approve this message!". Imagine Cetihcra would approve also along with Vadim who lives in the area.

My preference :
1- return to campus sites
2- Ridder Arena
3- The Aud in Utica

The problem with returning to campus sites is that it makes it very tough to get tickets if your team is not in it.

Re: Presidents Council says NO to DI/DIII combo weekend

For sure. But personally, I'd rather see a 1,500-2,500 seat venue totally packed with tickets nowhere to be found than a seemingly empty 10,000 seat venue with people giving tickets away for free outside.

I just know the atmosphere would be totally electric if it was moved back to campus sites...

Some other issues with campus sites - I believe NCAA has a capacity minimum of 3,000, including standing room, for the semi's and final (which is why Oswego's Campus Center was designed for 2,500 seats with 500 SRO)...not many D3 campus rinks qualify.

On the question of availability, let's use the CC as an example - rounding numbers, currently there are apron 1,000 seats held by season ticket holders and a student section of 1,000, leaving 500 seats and 500 SRO available for purchase. A CC Frozen Four could allot 500 tickets for each team and have 1,000 available for general admission...if Oswego was in the mix, it would be a very tough ticket given the level of support they enjoy, but more would be available from the team pools if their fan base didn't travel well and returned unused tickets to the gen admission pool. The Final would be easier as many fans of the teams eliminated don't stay for the final - at least that has been the case in Placid....

Having said that, I think the bigger issue would be hotel rooms....not very many in Oswego...I expect many folks could be as far away (45 min) as Syracuse....Unless your host campus was in a larger city or metro area, IMHO hotel rooms will be harder to come by than tickets.

There's always Potsdam. Hotel rooms galore for miles around. Some even have rooms with a view.
