Preliminary & Ongoing Pairwise Watch and 2013 NCAA Tournament Musing Thread

Re: Preliminary & Ongoing Pairwise Watch and 2013 NCAA Tournament Musing Thread

As a Red Wings fan, I refuse to believe that the years between 1966 and drafting Steve Yzerman really existed.
Does that mean you became a Red Wings fan after they drafted Yzerman? Because somehow I doubt that the era up to 1966 made much of an impression on you as it was happening. :D

And where ever he is...Butch Goring is still a hack!

In days of yore, the high school I went to put together a hockey team for one season and played a game against the high school that Goring attended about a 10 minute drive away. It was the only game that I went to see.

A very stocky heavy set forward on our team with lots of hockey playing experience skated to center ice to take the game starting face off against Goring for the other school. The ref dropped the puck and I'm sure that two sets of gloves beat the puck to the ice...no exaggeration. They didn't even pretend to be interested in the puck after it left the ref's hand. As a matter of fact they weren't even watching the puck...their eyes were fixed on each other with bad intentions even before the puck was dropped. They were instantly all over each other like a cheap suit for several minutes. Must have had a history with one another.

That's the only recollection that I've ever had of that game and the only time I ever saw Goring play live.
