I'm a dyed-in-the-wool supporter of Eastern hockey ... and this is just my uneducated opinion ... BUT

- The 5 best Jr leagues are all in the Western half of the Western Hemisphere. USHL, NAHL, BCHL, AJHL, SHJL
- The Western NCAA D3 teams are all physically closer to these leagues and their teams
- D3 Recruiting budgets are such that it is more likely that a recruiter from a Western team would visit these "better" leagues
- The odds of a player from these leagues attending D3 institutions is higher for Western teams simply due to geography and recruiting
- ERGO ... The Western teams (on paper) should be stronger than the Eastern

Norwich goes out West for a reason to try and recruit kids. Coaches make multiple trips to Western Canada every year trying to get kids from the Saskatchewan and Alberta leagues. Don’t have many BCHL kids but I think NU might start to see a few more NAHL kids in the future.
