Bah. Another concert where he only plays the greatest hits. He needs to start mixing in some new songs.

Re: POTUS: It Can Happen Here Again

I love schiff and his ppt with the quotes about protecting whistleblowers from all The republicans

Re: POTUS: It Can Happen Here Again

People are so morally corrupt and bankrupt it cannot.

No, "people" aren't. These Republicans are. And their voters are. But that's the bottom of the barrel; the dregs of the gene pool.

We've always had these slime with us but hitherto they were divided evenly between the parties. The problem is now they are completely aligned with one side, so for the moment they can actually get their way. They are repealing civilization because it shows them, by comparison, to be utter failures.

We keep going and we keep growing and meanwhile we don't help while they reduce their own numbers through their own policies. They are committing suicide. We just have to learn to stop saying "we have a duty to protect everyone." No. No, we don't. These animals made their bed and now they can burn in it.

We are one or two generations away from leaving them in the dust permanently. The only job now is to survive until we can contain them.

You make them sound bad.

Re: POTUS: It Can Happen Here Again

Yes you do. Its called an election. Don't be a Scooby. ;)
Unfortunately my vote changes nothing. We already elect people who can think. The fly over boobs will keep voting in the neanderthals and using my tax money to bail them out of their refusal to be responsible for themselves. The more responsible and prosperous we get the more fed tax money they get to use to rescue themselves

But that's the issue. The Kochs and others have been pushing for years to have enough states in order to call a Constitutional Convention, and then rewrite the Constitution in favor of the rich and powerful. Donnie serves their purpose by destroying the rule of law in this country. Without rule of law, there's nothing to stop them from succeeding. The end to fair elections, everything else, and it doesn't matter what sort of majority the left becomes.

Re: POTUS: It Can Happen Here Again

They could find some lame *** "National Security" argument I am sure. Some judge will buy it...

As for why the GOP caved...I am sure Trump threatened to never help them fundraising. The man has 60 million chromosomially challenged people he bilks for BILLIONS!

He’s going to be mentally unfit to feed himself in a year. They think that dip shot is going to fundraise for them even if he’s healthy?

with a gutted medical system and gutted regulations to protect the water, air, food, and approval of medications with decreased oversight- should be interesting

They've done a good job of tearing down all the systems. And they have the Presidency at it's highest power level ever. Managed to do that without allowing Obama to benefit from it at all even though it was continuing to ramp up.

They find a way to make 2020 happen and it's all over.

ANything is possible when you feel no need to preserve integrity. impairs the ability to do so many things....

We're lucky. Many of us (certainly not most) are middle class. Education correlates pretty well with two things: income and liberalism. Our poor liberal brethren are going to need our help, however the funny irony is the worst of the impact of Dump and the GOP is falling on the Dumpies. The amber waves of heart disease and the purple meth head majesty is bad for libs but it's literally wiping out the cons.

So, we stay in our warm, well-lit, well-educated, higher income sanctuary cities and staff our co-ops and our food banks to care for our less fortunate, and let the angel of death rip through the wastelands of people who so richly deserve it.

Elections have consequences.

We'll get through this. Darwin gets sh-t done.

Pretty good assessment. And it also partly explains how we got here.

Most of dump's most committed supporters* are suffering. They are being left behind, poor, uncomprehending, increasingly angry, and not inclined to be generous. Too many of us liberals are, as you say, warm and well fed, so we are not inclined to engage in the streets. This isn't Yeats' apocalypse, where the best lack all conviction and the worst are full of passionate intensity. The best have conviction but lack . . . will? Urgency? The worst calmly and methodically inflame then manipulate the passionate intensity of those whom dump has claimed as his base. This is a rumble, not a debate; and winning will take both street smarts and grit. Not one without the other.

* Not all. We all know well educated, well-to-do Rs who are standing idly by. I'm talking about his MAGA-hat-wearing base.

Re: POTUS: It Can Happen Here Again

...... building things is always more time consuming and more difficult than blowing things up. To build you need ages of planning, perseverence, and patience. To destroy you need only a moment's violence.

How many blockbuster movies are there about building things? We all know which is more popular with our ape brains.
I immediately thought of "Bridge on the River Kwai". You get to see something built AND then blown up!

Re: POTUS: It Can Happen Here Again

Classy, Rand

“ JUST IN: Chief Justice John Roberts has indicated that he would not read a question from GOP Senator Rand Paul in the impeachment trial against President Trump that could name the anonymous whistleblower whose report initially helped spark the impeachment inquiry.”
