POTUS 45.7 - Has the left reached the acceptance stage yet?

Re: POTUS 45.7 - Has the left reached the acceptance stage yet?

Oh come on...he still has over a 50% (he only rose from 38 to 40) disapproval rating lets not act like people actually like him now. A "bombing bump" is like a "convention bump" it is fleeting and soon gone. He needs to go to war or he will fall flat again especially with his health care gambit seemingly around the corner.

Mark my words. He was getting lots of love this morning. He keeps it up and the media will swoon. The bar is so low for this guy they get off if he reads a teleprompter you know. Meanwhile, any Democrat would have been impeached by now.

Re: POTUS 45.7 - Has the left reached the acceptance stage yet?

Unpopular wars can sink a presidency and a party. Look at Johnson and Bush and what happened in the elections after their wars became boondogggles.

Re: POTUS 45.7 - Has the left reached the acceptance stage yet?

Should I mark them next to your words about how Scott Walker would be President ;)

What media was gushing for him...and remember that Faux and MSNBC dont count as media. Hell MSNBC doesnt even count as entertainment :p Not to mention every piece of news I see is calling him a hypocrite and still talking about his scandals and failures.

Bombings are like trick plays in football...they work every so often but they cant hide the actual deficiencies. Throwing a flea flicker wont make your defense any better. He took the country's eyes off his scandals for 5 seconds but it wont work forever. (ask Hillary) He will try to screw Health Care again (and fail) and the Russia stuff is still here.

Tell me again about unpopular wars:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_of_Representatives_elections,_2006
http://www.gallup.com/poll/11998/iraqvietnam-comparison.aspx

In 1966, Vietnam was weighing heavily on Democrats and they lost nearly 50 seats and lost the next presidential election.

In 2006, Republicans lost 30 seats, flipped the house, and lost the next election.

Also, I'm not sure what you're getting at with that article. Nixon prolonged the war because he wanted to win the election against a disliked Democrat and parlayed that into high approval ratings.

I just found it interesting that he used that to get elected and then extended the war anyway. It also feeds the narrative that Republicans know how to win and Democrats know how to lose.

Gotcha. Though, I somewhat disagree with the last statement.

Re: POTUS 45.7 - Has the left reached the acceptance stage yet?

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is inexplicably backing away from rules that are meant to prevent federal student loan borrowers from being fleeced by companies the government pays to collect the loans and to guide people through the repayment process.

On Tuesday, she withdrew a sound Obama administration policy that required the Education Department to take into account the past conduct of loan servicing companies before awarding them lucrative contracts — and to include consumer protections in those contracts as well.

Suckers.

Re: POTUS 45.7 - Has the left reached the acceptance stage yet?

Actually there was a lot of backlash on social media from Trumpers about his failure to end ObamaCare and his bombing in Syria. The firing of Bannon wont help the cause ESPECIALLY if Bannon starts burning bridges.

Many of the undecideds/normally dont voters went for Trump because he was going to be different. Problem is everything he does is the same. Hell everything he ripped Obama/Hillary for he has already done and that doesnt even count the illegal stuff. And while Nimrod McHatestheBlackies in the rural south may still like it (until he loses his health care) the ones who followed his tweets and such are the ones turning on him. They didnt sign up for 4 years of Government Sachs and Trump Nepotism. They signed up for "Draining the Swamp" and JOBS JOBS JOBS!!

See the problem Trump has isnt any one scandal or mistake...every president makes dumb mistakes and has some scandal. It isnt even that he over promised...it is that he overpromised to every possible group out there to the point he cant win. He basically did what Jim Carey did in Bruce Almighty...answered yes to everyone's prayers. Well you cant promise reduced price health care that is amazing and cut taxes. You cant be an isolationist and start bombing other countries and make military moves towards North Korea. You cant criticize scandal then be implicated in one of the largest scandals since Nixon. You cant denounce Anti-Semitism and racism and then do everything you can to cultivate it. You cant rip China, then 10 seconds after meeting with China kiss up to them...

See, if Trump were smart and if he had anyone on his staff who understood political PR he could easily wipe most of this away. All he would need to do is give a PC where he admits he was wrong about how easy the job was and that in the time he has been in office he has had to learn a lot on the fly. He then throws some platitudes at former Presidents and admitting his backseat driving was wrong and that he invites them to help in any way they can. He does that...he jumps 10 points easy and the ONLY people ticked off are the Trumpers. Problem is his ego would never let him do that. Instead he will just continue to try and convince the world he is the best President of all time, he will fire staffers who hate Jared or look at him wrong, he will be in a two pronged war with the GOP and the Dems and his numbers will stay low.

Lets hope this sticks it to all young 'uns who decided to sit this last election out or voted Gary Johnson (who in all probability would support something like this because freedom and all that).

Well it is sticking it to me and I voted for Hillary so...

It's a disservice to your post and I apologize, but my reply is this:

Well, we spent $400 million to kill 36 terrorists and knock power out of an airport for a few hours.

BTW Gallup did a poll and Americans overwhelmingly disapprove of the Syria bombing...hence bombing Afghanistan.

While I agree that a "bombing bump" may be quite similar to a "convention bump" I don't know where you are getting the idea that the Syria bombing was overwhelmingly disapproved by Americans. CNN reported nearly 60% SUPPORTED the bombing. I've read other articles that noted even a large minority of Democrats supported it.

I spent two days in a staff meeting and all of the talk was how close the democratic candidate came in Kansas to beating the republican. Moral victories are not what we need. Then again maybe by 2018 enough old white men will have died for a better electoral result. Surely by 2020 that will be the case. Democrats don't really need to learn how to win. Old white men just need to learn how to die.

How is showing his numbers are still really low a disservice to my post? The people in the Gallup poll arent the people I am talking about. I am talking about the people the pollsters ignored in the last election (and still do now) and the ones who answered disingenuously. (afraid to admit they were Pro Trump) Those are the people that are turning on him. Him being at 40% is because his actions emboldened him to the GOP Base.
