The bleating of the GQP should be ignored. Not even noted and ignored. Just ignore them.

Some other thoughts:
  • Please don't fuck this up guys. Please.
  • The law that Marc Elias tweeted - and then discussed further - has never been tested for Constitutionally-defined offices. Statute cannot override the US Constitution, so if Trump is convicted of violating these laws, his ability to run for or hold office is going to be very much litigated.
  • Getting access to look for these specific violations is not carte blanche to snoop around anywhere. Other illegal things must be in plain sight. This isn't a fishing expedition.
  • Fuck the GQP.
  • Please don't fuck this up.

Yes and no. More accurately, other illegal things must be in plain sight or in a place covered by the search warrant.

So if you're searching for a samurai sword, you can't open up a shoe box because the sword wouldn't fit in there. But if you're searching for a pistol, you can open up the shoe box and if you find illegal drugs inside, those drugs would still be admissible in court even though they weren't in plain sight or the subject of the initial warrant.

In a search warrant for classified materials, the scope of places to look is likely going to be fairly broad.

Sic, oh sic. Still letting dumpy off when he’s a significantly more serious security threat than Secretary Clinton was. I guess you are at least a consistent moron.

How is it that you couldn’t read that the target of this search are documents a former President can’t have? Keep trying- maybe 40 more hours of hearings will result in a search warrant for Secretary Clinton now that your boy was searched.

if it were up to drew, we wouldn’t have responded to Pearl Harbor because it may have been “divisive.”

We were better then. Within days after the attack on Pearl, the largest and most influential isolationist organization officially disbanded, and its leaders all joined the military. Once it was obvious our democracy was literally under attack, nearly every American realized sacrifice was necessary, and not only did we pull together then -- more or less -- we remained mostly united until we saw it through. Now a sizeable minority of this country is made up of traitors, despite the fact our democracy is being threatened by republicans and MAGAts as much as it ever has been, either from domestic traitors or outside forces. Yet drew does not want to be divisive. republicans have raised being divisive to an art form. They are the ones tearing this society apart. Fuck them. Fuck any of the traitors who enable them.

The news is reporting this is about "15 boxes" that should be with the National Archives.

But CNBC reported those boxes were returned six months ago.
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/02/07/nat...mp-white-house-documents-from-mar-a-lago.html

In a statement to NBC News Monday afternoon, the National Archives confirmed that it arranged for the transport of 15 boxes of presidential records out of Trump’s Palm Beach, Florida, residence in mid-January “following discussions with President Trump’s representatives in 2021.”

Is the actual warrant language available online?

Ingraham: When we get power back, it’s time to hold everyone accountable.. the military leadership, the civilian leadership, the civil service, those in Congress who have abused their power

They were in power for 4 years.

Hillary didn't go to jail.
Hunter Biden didn't go to jail.
The Deep State didn't go to jail.
The Military Leadership didn't go to jail.
The Civil Service didn't go to jail.
Nancy Pelosi didn't go to jail.

You suck as a minority party harder than you suck as a majority party.

I was just going to post something similar. That is what former DOJ officials were saying last night.

On another topic I found it funny that Ari Fleischer was tweeting out "they better have the goods" about the raid. The GOP has no sense of irony. And I highly doubt a federal judge signed off on a search warrant just because Garland asked nicely...

I would think the Federal Judge was probably pretty freaking irritated to be involved at all and made sure all the I's were dotted and the T's were crossed.

This is interesting. I did not hear this reported anywhere I was watching. This makes a lot of sense.

A lot of it came from Trump's mouth after the raid and was backed up by DOJ officials. The Archives had been trying to get those docs for months.

Maddow said it best last night (paraphrasing) but it says a lot when you hear Trump has been raided and you have to wonder which of the Grand Juries this is tied to.

Back in my days of wanting to be a lawyer we had a former federal prosecutor come to our class. (this was a long time ago so admittedly times are different) I can't remember what was being discussed but someone asked why it takes so long for DOJ to get things done, is it because things are harder at that level or something. He said something to the effect of "we take our time because we make sure that there is no room for doubt. We aren't doing it for headlines or to win elections, we are doing it to get convictions and our conviction rates are insanely high. Federal Judges are not very forgiving either so it is important to have everything covered because they will throw a monkey wrench in and not blink".

I never saw it confirmed that this was a Trump judge but if so (as the earlier tweet said) then this is just too delicious.

Now I know we are a couple of days before all of the media starts pulling a NY Times/MAGA Haberman and talking about how this is bad cause it will get the GQP base rolling, but in all honesty I don't see it. They were all voting anyways and if their new platform is going to be "put us in charge to get rid of the military, social security, the gay agenda, the women's agenda, the FBI and arrest Democrats" I feel that will only work with a niche group. Calling for all out war is not how you get the suburban women back on your side either.

"Arranged for transport" doesn't mean "actually were transported"; the "arranging" could take forever as a stalling mechanism. Also, just because boxes were returned doesn't mean they were returned with the correct stuff in them.

C'mon, these are the sort of insincere argument details you're supposed to be good at.

That article does make it sound like the Archives got them...but my guess is he had more than he said he had. (or he turned over the non classified stuff)

Sic doesn't want to admit that the BS arguments he made about Clinton apply doubly to Trump. He didn't when Trump was caught passing classified intel (not possible classified intel like her CONFIMRED classified intel) to the Russians, he didn't do it when he had the Nuclear Football at Mar-a-Lago, he didn't when it was confirmed that Trump was doing classified business on a non-secured Android Phone out in public and he won't now even though members of the Archives and the DOJ are flat out saying the documents he still had not only were classified, they had the top levels of classification and posed a grave danger to National Security.

Sic is a disingenuous fraud and always has been.

Apparently Trump could release a copy of the warrant and hasn't. That's interesting. Anyone confirm?

This is trending hard on Twitter...every non MAGAyte is basically saying "if you think you are being persecuted, release the warrant and let's see who signed off on it and what they were looking for".

This is smart in so many ways.

But don't you think they have to at least prosecute Trump for something after this raid? If they don't, if the raid occurs and then we just get a trickle of information about this document or that found in the raid, with no prosecution, doesn't it just look like a political move? And if that's the case, that'll blow back on Biden and congressional Democrats, whether they had prior knowledge or not.

I agree with you that Garland, Wray, and the judge who signed off weren't going to do this without something solid, but it has to ultimately lead to something. Just my two cents.

Dc court of appeals rules that congress can get his taxes lol

Have we pivoted yet to how divisive Kamala’s laugh is yet?
