Man, the need for instant gratification is something these days. People want to know so badly that they are willing to risk national security. When they claim to be concerned about national security.

What they think is irrelevant. It's up to the National Archives. Plus what is there to negotiate he had things he shouldn't have he has no rights here.

If I steal money from my job do I get to negotiate when to bring it back?

If correct, @WSJ lays it out in 3 graphs. Government tried for 2 months to get classified docs back from Trump, he didn't do it, so they went in and seized it. *If true*, he committed a crime and search/seizure was justified on national security grounds.
