I know we still have half a day to go but has there been any chatter anywhere from the QCumbers questioning why the Inauguration hasn't happened yet? They were so sure it would happen today. I suppose we're waiting for them to move the goalposts again and pick a new date?

just waiting for JFK, Jr. to get the festivities started

The Nazis have a teensie weensie problem.

The Republican National Committee decided to relocate part of its spring donor retreat next month to Mar-a-Lago — a move made just days after lawyers for former President Trump sent cease-and-desist letters to three GOP organizations, including the RNC, to stop fundraising off of Trump’s name.

The Washington Post reported Monday that although the RNC’s donor retreat in early April will take place at a luxury hotel in Palm Beach as usual, the RNC relocated the event’s Saturday evening portion to Mar-a-Lago to accommodate Trump and guests who would like to visit the site.

According to the Post, the national party plans to sign a contract with Mar-a-Lago to host the event and will pay Trump’s resort for the use of the facilities and meals. An unnamed Republican involved in the planning told the Post that it’s easier to coordinate the large event, which involves Secret Service logistics, at Mar-a-Lago. Additionally, the source told the Post that many GOP donors are fond of visiting the former President’s post-presidency residence as well.

At least 350 people are reportedly seeking to attend Trump’s speech, which an official told the Post is the largest of any session of the retreat. Other scheduled speakers such as Trump allies Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will deliver remarks at the main hotel that will host most of the RNC’s donor retreat.

The RNC’s move to relocate part of its spring donor retreat to Mar-a-Lago was reported amid the committee’s top lawyer denying the cease-and-desist demand from Trump’s lawyers, according to Politico on Monday.

In a letter obtained by Politico that was sent Monday afternoon to Trump attorney Alex Cannon, RNC chief counsel Justin Riemer wrote that the committee “has every right to refer to public figures as it engages in core, First Amendment-protected political speech, and it will continue to do so in pursuit of these common goals.”

However, both Politico and the Post reported that RNC chair Ronna McDaniel appeared to get the green light from Trump to continue fundraising off of the former president’s likeness.

According to the Post, McDaniel and Trump spoke last weekend to address the former president’s cease-and-desist demand. McDaniel reportedly told Trump that the GOP wants to tout the former president’s accomplishments, and argued that the party continuing to use Trump’s likeness will work to the former president’s advantage as well.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of fucks.

It’s because he started a PAC that he wants people to start donating to instead of donating to the RNC.

If that splits up the donations to fund dumpy and then the RNC- nothing wrong with that. And if the corporations that walk away from the treasonous, the RNC should struggle for funds.

I am still not seeing the issue. Both sides are going to get exactly what they want. The RNC is getting Trump and everything he brings and Trump is getting money. Nothing bad is coming from this. I mean it makes the RNC look like weaklings, but that has been on full display since November so nothing is new.

I mean you could maybe say it is bad for the Never Trumpers but their future is already set. No person that voted to oust Trump is going to be welcome in the mainstream Republican Party anymore. Some like Kinzinger will survive but that is it. The Old Guard capitulated, they quit before they were even challenged.

They could have fought the cease and desist and probably won. They don't want to. That is your fatal flaw, you think Trump is holding them hostage but they are the ones putting on the blindfold, binding their own wrists and jumping in the van. It wasnt like they werent going to throw money at Trump and his PAC anyways.

They got what they wanted, and did it without having to put up any fight. So did Trump.

CNN had a story about Rep Kunzinger (sp?) who is going against the rest of the Racist party over dumpy. And some of the tube of U comments are interesting, as if he's admirable at all. His stated turning point was the election in November and Jan 6.

As if none of that was predictable 4 years ago. dumpy was very clear that he would not accept a loss to Secretary Clinton, so it's not as if what happen in November was surprising what so ever. Let alone Jan 6.

If he pointed this out back in 2017 at the start of the term, he would have courage. This is just being less of a coward.

I would post that on the video, but too public.

Kinzinger...and sorry but I think you are completely wrong. He knows his opposition since the 6th (and it is vocal and often) puts him in peril to be primaried and he doesn't care. He started a PAC just to protect the GOPers who are NeverTrumpers and voted with him to Impeach. He and I don't agree politically much at all but he is definitely acting courageous. As has been pointed out here before people in his own family dislike him over his stance now.

We can't just spit in the face of people who are late to the party. He has admitted he was wrong and is taking actions to fight Trump and his cronies in the GOP. If we want to defeat that Fascist Wing we need him and his ilk.

I would agree that the republicans (especially the ones who are not retiring) who voted to impeach or convict were acting with sense of country and duty before party. Of course we must remember that almost 95% of the republicans in the House and Senate did not vote to impeach or convict so the party is still virtually entirely garbage.

I'm tired of them pretending to "take the high road"- when they were following the low one for 4 years. He wasn't a never dumper until the election night.

It was not shocking or even surprising that dumpy did what he did. To pretend that is just old.

Ok, he's in opposition, fine- I have a little less contempt. I will never admire someone who comes that late to the party when the signs were so obvious for so long.

And it's horrible that he claims that there are other racist party members who back him behind closed doors- that's total cowardice.

Where have they been for 4 years?

We used to not think Russia was an ally what so ever, until dumpy came along and forced people in line. We used to not talk with terrorists until dumpy thought it was cool to talk to N Korea like an equal. Many republicans had integrity, even if greedy, until dumpy came along. This party just enabled dumpy to be the POS that he was clearly going to be the whole time.

They went far enough to not really accept an apology, yet. Too much damage to the country.

It's great that he has gotten out of the cult. Should not have even gotten into it.
