Small sample size from the southern half of the Chicago area, but here's your non-college subset: You have quite a few prominent Catholic high schools that are not exactly "selective" academically but are still better alternatives (i.e. Whiter) than the public school system of the area. Many of these are your typical "Bro-Dudes" who are athletes or otherwise popular and are legacy students. Academics aren't their strong point, and since they went to a private school, they identify as "Catholic". Many end up working blue collar jobs from connections made through the alumni network of said school (lots of blue collar "old money" here).

Not sure if this works out for other areas of the Midwest, but it definitely is a thing in the Southern Half of the Chicago area.

Two things I just saw on Twitter:

1) Apparently it is now the Trumper strategy to say the "Southern Strategy" was never a thing and the parties never switched. Not in the ignorant way they used to this is much more coordinated with Trumper media people talking about it and writing articles to back it up. (they literally put this every time Trump is called a racist on Twitter)

2) El Hefty's Press Secretary confirmed Trump is Anti-Fascist. That is right...Trump is ANTIFA!

You know why Twitter is great...it is like watching checkers novices play a Grand Champion in Chess. The idiots are so outclassed and out of their realm that they end up arguing themselves and dont even know it.
 
One of the classic characteristics of a fascist is utter intellectual dishonesty. There is no ideological principle to adhere to -- it's a criminal gang -- so any words will do. That is what the GOP has become.

The GOP is obviously not going to admit its people are the Klan, the Birchers, the lynchers. They have always been this. All the way back to the Civil War and beyond.

Actually that is one of the theories and I am not kidding. Northerners moved South for jobs and such and Southerners moved North for some reason I dont remember because the logic gave me a ****ing migraine.

Another theory is that when Saint Ronnie was President both Parties agreed to implement racist agendas to hold Black people down. (those are the "Freethinking Independents" )

It is craziness. I would put up links but I wont do them the honor. This crap ranks up there with Flat Earthers.

Oh and BTW...because Susan Rice dared speak out against Trump (and is a rumored frontrunner for Veep I guess) Benghazi was trending. This lead to Liberals comparing the number of dead of COVID (which apparently is all on Blue Governors...unlike H1N1 which was on "Obummer" ) which then lead to a massive Trumper Circle Jerk. Jesus Christ hasnt been Martyred as much as those 4 people.

Trumpers are like 60 million Old Pios with the logic of Bob Gray and joecct added in.

You can find it anywhere the leeches show up. Its like 4chan blew up and the refuse has infected all of the internet.

I see it most on Twitter (that is the only place I read politics) and thank Jameson every day I live in a mostly sane state and have friends who arent so stupid they believe this crap. Even the ones I know who like to troll liberals throw their phone when they read crap like this. It is like they dont realize they are part of a bit. They are the morons on The Daily Show who think they are winning the conversation. They dont get that they are the joke and everyone is laughing at them.

Samantha Bee gave a great breakdown of how that worked on Marc Maron's podcast. According to her most of the time they edited the pieces to make the idiots look better...that is how out of touch they are. The Jordan Klepper piece from the Trump rally a few years ago is the perfect example of how ridiculously out of touch these people really are. It isnt just a bubble...they have self segregated out of reality.

In all honesty, if we started a web site and a podcast and just talked about how dumb liberals are we could get them to believe anything. They dont even hide how gullible they are and they fall for everything. Like the Black Republican running for office in Georgia who fell for the obviously doctored photo of the Klan with a Democrats sign.

But...to make us all feel better he is a video of a Karen getting pimpslapped by a Latinx person who she said would be sent back to Mexico!
