Re: POTUS 45.64: Governance By Unhinged Twitter Rants

So, the Beltway gossip for the last few months has been that Dump is wearing lifts, not for height (he actually is tall) but to correct his slumping posture. You can see in his photos lately that he appears to have a noticeable list forward.

I didn't think much of it, and just assumed it was one of Dump's "this is how you intimidate" BS things, until this morning.

He’s had that list forward for a long time.

Centaur trump has been around for years ;)

Having worked an RNC...I can tell you there is a lot of money that floats around to the local business. Losing it would be bad for the local economy in the short term.

Remember it isnt just the Pols coming to town...the media outlets throw money around like it is going out of style. Bars in Saint Paul rented themselves out for the entire period of time for low 7 figures. Hotels made bank there was definitely lots of people who were employed making higher wages than normal.

I realize that, and in addition to the people on the floor there are all those staffers and support staff. It's not trivial, but I don't think it's in the same ballpark (so to speak) as say a playoff series covering the same number of nights.

I don’t know. A playoff series is mostly locals, many of whom might decide to grab a burger and beer before the game. A lot of expense accounts to be tapped at a convention.

That is true, since all those folks have nowhere to eat, sleep, or f-ck but a hotel.

OK. You have changed my mind. It is a very significant hit to lose it.

Not that this matters in the grand scheme of things, but I hate it when president salute. NO trump is not the first one to do it all the time, maybe it was Reagan. But since then they all seem to do it. You'll notice in that tweet the man in uniform is saluting but the two civilians in the middle (Pense and I don't know who else) are placing their hands over their hearts.

Many of those folks have massive expense accounts, and they will use every dollar they can. Sure, it's a short-term bump, but it's a big short-term bump.

Same here. The salute is military and the President is civilian control of the military. It's not a trivial issue.

The RNC originally estimated it wold have a $200 million impact on Cleveland and the surrounding counties in 2016. I think even though the numbers are often inflated a bit to draw as much support as possible, the dollars are real. It was estimated by local researchers to actually have almost $190 million of direct economic benefit to the Cleveland area. Although not finished in time for the convention, it did lead to a sizeable improvement in I-90 through the downtown area of the city. Once that road was opened it shaved anywhere from 10-30 minutes off the morning commute to my office when I worked in Ohio, which was located in Asia town, east of the downtown area.

Re: POTUS 45.64: Governance By Unhinged Twitter Rants

I'd prefer the RNC move to a further southern state where they can all get sick together and not be near me.

Re: POTUS 45.64: Governance By Unhinged Twitter Rants

He should totally move it. Moving something that takes years to plan with two months notice always goes well, especially when you have such a preeminent brain trust working for you.

Re: POTUS 45.64: Governance By Unhinged Twitter Rants

It's going to end up in a Trump hotel. Which was probably the plan since January, 2017

Happy Memorial Day, he’s not getting enough praise

Was thinking the same thing. Aside from the RNC convention at Mar-A-Lago how can you possibly pull this off in a month's time? If I were Cooper I'd keep him in suspense and then cancel the thing two days before it's supposed to start. :D

“ The husband of a woman who died while working for former Rep. Joe Scarborough has asked Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to remove tweets posted by President Trump that suggest her death was a part of a conspiracy theory involving the MSNBC “Morning Joe” host.

“The frequency, intensity, ugliness, and promulgation of these horrifying lies ever increases on the internet,” Timothy Klausutis said. “These conspiracy theorists, including most recently the President of the United States, continue to spread their bile and misinformation on your platform disparaging the memory of my wife and our marriage.”

It's pretty sad that this guys has to have an awful event like that dragged up all the time by the ******* in chief.
